As dog trainers, our learning should never stop.
One of the best investments we can make isn’t just in learning new training techniques, but in developing ourselves as professionals too.
I’m really pleased to have completed The Mindful Dog Trainer with Laura Mars, a course focused on developing thoughtful, reflective and ethical practitioners within the dog training industry.
The course challenged me to think more deeply about how I work with both dogs and their owners, reinforced the importance of ethical practices, and gave me the confidence to continue building a business that puts welfare, empathy and positive training at its heart.
Professional development isn’t about collecting certificates, it’s about continually improving so that every client and every dog benefits from the very best support I can provide.
A huge thank you to Laura for creating such a valuable programme, and to everyone on the course for making it such a supportive learning experience.
Here’s to always learning, always improving, and always putting dogs first.
Perhaps you're not doubting your knowledge.
Perhaps you're doubting yourself.
Six months ago, Andy joined The Mindful Dog Trainer after leaving a career he'd worked in for 40 years.
During our final session, he reflected on just how much had changed.
Yes, he'd grown his business from working with 3 dogs to more than 70.
But that wasn't what stayed with me.
It was the confidence he'd found along the way.
Not because he learned hundreds of new techniques.
Because he had the space to pause, reflect, ask questions and start trusting the skills, knowledge and experience he already brought.
Thank you, Andy, for allowing me to share a small part of your journey. 💛
Applications for the October cohort are now open.
If you've ever wondered whether you're good enough, perhaps you don't need another course.
Perhaps you need the space to recognise what you already bring.
