Agility at Minx’s Mates! 🐾

We are pleased to offer mobile agility sessions as part of our services. Due to the incredible feedback we’ve received, we’ve actually custom built a whole new range of equipment to ensure every dog gets the most from our sessions.

Agility is an excellent way to provide dogs with structured exercise, mental stimulation, and confidence building. It is a fun and engaging activity that allows dogs to enjoy something different while working at a pace that suits their individual needs. At the end of each session we encourage owners to get involved, a great way to nurture the bond with your dog.

Agility is highly effective for tiring out energetic dogs as well as supporting focus and coordination. It also strengthens the bond between the dog and handler through positive, rewarding interaction.

Our agility sessions are available in two bundles. The £20 bundle includes hurdles, a tunnel, toys and treats. The £25 bundle includes all of the above with the addition of a ramp. Treats and toys are provided, catering to each dogs’ dietary needs and preferences, at the end of the session they even get to pick out a toy to keep!

We look forward to welcoming more dogs to this activity and supporting them as they learn new skills and enjoy a safe, enjoyable challenge. 💜🐾

Exciting new changes! 💜🐾

We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes; we have revisited prices, introduced bundles, as well as a list of brand new services at very competitive rates.

We always strive to be an affordable option while still ensuring the highest level of care for your beloved pets, using our BSc Hons in Animal Behaviour and Welfare to provide the best possible care, we treat (and love) every animal as if they are our own.

After many requests, we’ve decided to introduce dog walking, agility bundles, drop ins for your furry friends, as well as keeping our already established 1-1 training and dog sitting.

With such demand for dog sits, Minx and Izzy will now be offering them, ensuring the same standard of care our clients love and expect.

We look forward to starting this new chapter here at Minx’s Mates with you, existing clients and new 💜🐾

Meet the new addition to the Minx’s Mates team!💜

As many know, Izzy has been my assistant for a little while and now that we’ve both graduated she is officially joining Minx’s Mates as a co-owner. We met during our BsC Hons Animal behaviour and welfare course, I wouldn’t trust anyone with my pets more than I would trust her. Izzy will be available to take on her own bookings, meaning we’re able to take on more clients and expand the services we offer.

Not only a pretty face, Izzy previously worked as a groomers assistant and has been my assistant for over a year. She focused on helping anxious dogs relax and feel comfortable during their groom, skills she has brought to the clients we work with.

Many changes will be coming so keep an eye out for the updated services list and Izzy glamorising the business. 🐾💜

Whilst I've been off training Pyra I've also been working with this handsome boy, Rio.

A haltie (head collar) isn't my first suggestion for any case and it wasn't here, the owner had tried redirection and corrections but nothing seemed to work. Rio isn't food motivated and doesn't even notice he's pulling, he's just super strong. He caused ligament damage to the owners shoulder and knee so we knew for his safety and hers we needed to get things under control.

I measured him to make sure the haltie fit, which is essential to this training and we spent a lot of time indoors conditioning him to wear the haltie. Only once he'd mastered that did we even think about starting work outside. It isn't as easy as just putting a haltie on your dog and taking them for a walk, this took a few weeks (delayed by the heatwave) but now this handsome boy walks beautifully on his leash and haltie. The leash on the haltie should always be slack to prevent putting constant pressure on the dogs snout and yet even just having it on makes a huge difference.

Rio still loves his walks and now his owner does too, she can finally walk him again.

Look at that handsome boy!

I want to thank everyone, including all my amazing clients, for being so patient with me whilst I settle Pyra in to our home. Thanks to your patience I've been able to give her the attention she needed to start her training which means I can start taking bookings again.

My mobile Agility sessions (I travel to you or a local green space) still has two spaces left to start in September! If you want to give your dog something a bit different to a walk and still burn their energy then this is a great option. For £20 session your pup (12+ months old min) will get to use all the equipment and you don't have to lift a finger unless you want to.

My dogsitting bookings are open HOWEVER Pyra will be coming with me so unfortunately I can't take on highly reactive dogs. Pyra is pretty good, fully house trained, and can be separated if needed, however I do always do a meet and greet (free) which will also be used to assess how your pup will react to Pyra.

These three might be my easiest clients with just how chill they are though that might have something to do with their owner being a close friend.

These girls love nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa and who am I to deny them. Though today I was challenged with bath time during which I was glared at the whole time...

Bathing one dog is quite a physical task but bathing three whilst they give you a look of pure betrayal is even more so. We had to barter and baby-talk our way through it but now they smell and feel wonderful!

Whilst they didn't so much enjoy their baths they really enjoyed Zooming all around the garden to dry off and then their brushing. I wish you could hear these labs snoring, completely exhausted from their spa day... And it's only 10am.

We did ear cleaning, a good brushing and their baths, as I write this I'm trying to talk myself out of going at their claws with the clippers.

My youngest 'client' little Tonto. Was supposed to be running errands today but my wonderful friend asked me to watch this little man so I got company.

I will say we didn't get very far, every few steps someone would come over to praise him 🥺

One of my favourite, and the best things, to do with a young puppy is called 'neutrality training' or just teaching them they don't have to actively be engaging with everything, they can just sit and watch the world go by. So I picked a nice spot and my and Tonto just watched the birds, other dogs and people pass by. He was brilliant, especially interested in watching the ducks but just curled up beside me and watched.

We went to one of my favourite shops (the plant emporium -lincoln) where he played with the owner whilst we chatted followed by a trip to the pub for a good nap

Even with how young he is little T is so brave, his mum has done so much good socialising with him so my job was easy. Will gladly look after my little man anytime, especially if my boba addiction is getting fueled in the process 😂

He should sleep well tonight!

As I'm taking on fewer dogsits in preparation for my own dog arriving next month I'm coming to the realisation that I might be doing the final sits with some long-term clients. This little girl is one I'm going to really miss and hope to see again once my doggo has settled.

Little Peppa has such a big personality. She's a rescue and been with her owners for 5 years now. Whilst I've been looking after her we've done nail trims, lots of training adventures and more recently I've given input on her diet when asked. She recently had the rest of her teeth taken out and getting to see such a positive change in the way she eats and her overall behaviour has been very emotional. I'm going to miss this little diva and hope to see her again even if it's just for cuddles

I always forget to ask but if I've had the honour to look after or work with your pets I'd really appreciate you leaving me a review on this page. It helps new clients feel reassured and I love hearing my clients are happy with my services

Obligate dog photo as a thank you 💜
