I teach your dog and coach you in 1-1, in-home dog training across Lincoln.๐Ÿพ Guild of Dog Trainers certified. I am a certified Guild of Dog Trainers Professional Dog Training Instructor and a member of The International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). I am currently completing a further advanced course on canine behaviour with the British College of Canine Studies. My training is delivered through private, one-to-one coaching programmes, tailored specifically to you, your dog and the challenges you are facing. Sessions take place in your home, where both you and your dog can learn in a focused, distraction-free environment, and outdoors in carefully selected locations for loose lead walking, recall, confidence building, engagement work, play and real-world training. I do not offer single training sessions. Lasting behavioural change requires consistency, guidance and ongoing support. My programmes are designed for committed owners who are serious about improving their dog's behaviour and strengthening the relationship they share. As an experienced dog trainer, public speaker and holder of a PhD from the University of Melbourne, I bring a thoughtful, empathetic, analytical, and highly individual approach to every client I work with. No two dogs are the same, which is why every programme is tailored to the specific needs of both dog and owner. Many of my clients come to me after months, or even years, of frustration, uncertainty and conflicting advice. Through personalised coaching, practical training and clear guidance, I help owners develop the skills, confidence and understanding needed to achieve meaningful, lasting results. The testimonials and reviews I have received speak not only to improvements in behaviour, but to the profound impact that better communication, greater confidence and a calmer relationship can have on both owner and dog. If you are ready to make real progress and would like to discuss your dog's behaviour challenges, please click the link in my bio to book a free 30 minute call, or send me a direct message to arrange a time.

Meet Mayhem โ€“ six months old, already a very big girl, and learning that life doesnโ€™t always have to live up to her name! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š
This beautiful Irish Wolfhound pup and her mum, Michelle, are just two sessions into training, and our latest outing around Lincoln Cathedral was a pleasure.

Our main focus was loose-lead walking. Moving away from the harness and bungee lead, and practising with a lightweight slip lead, clear guidance and plenty of encouragement, Mayhem walked beautifully. Michelle did a lovely job helping her understand what was wanted. Really encouraging progress towards more enjoyable walks together!

We also practised sits and downs behind the cathedral, with distractions around us. Then we did a very simple thing you can maybe do with your dog โ€“ just sitting together, relaxing and watching the world go by. ๐ŸŒฟ Make it a short picnic with apple and cheese! Nice to do this after recall practice.

Back home, we worked on giving nine-year-old housemate Mischief his own space to relax, and helping Mayhem feel more settled during Michelleโ€™s brief departures.

She may already be an impressive size, but sheโ€™s still a young puppy with plenty to learn. Weโ€™re helping her grow into those enormous paws with clearer manners, confidence and calm.
Well done, Michelle and Mayhem! ๐Ÿ’š

Iโ€™m still grinning about Denzel winning Best in Show AND first place in Golden Season in the Jerry Green Dog Rescue Autumn photo comp. We now have two certificates and two rosettes to enjoy, and Denzel is out running again - fully recovered from his September surgery โ€“ such a relief! ๐ŸŽ‰

Jerry Green does wonderful work for dogs needing a new home, so to celebrate, Iโ€™d like to offer something to local adopters.

If you live in the central Lincoln area and adopted a dog from Jerry Green during September or October, Iโ€™m offering 10% off a training package to the first three people who book with me by 10th November. The discount is capped at ยฃ75, and weโ€™ll have a chat first to make sure the training is right for you and your dog.๐Ÿพ

No rush to start before your dog is ready to settle in. If youโ€™d like to talk things through, send me a WhatsApp message.

This is a little thank-you from Denzelโ€™s Dog Training to the rescue that has just made my rescue boy and Golden Oldie a double champion! ๐Ÿ†

Bruno's Victory Lap! ๐Ÿพ

Today was Bruno's final session, and this 6 year-old rescue Frenchie finished with an A+!

When Bruno first started he had no impulse control and would kick off at other dogs when the family sat down at the pub after kid's football matches. His lead walking was okay but not great. Ball time was tricky too. When someone tried to pick up his ball, he'd rush in, jump up and sometimes catch hands with his teeth. Bruno is a lovely dog, but all that excitement was hard for him to manage.
Look at him now:
โœ… Playing with better manners
โœ… Walking nicely to heel on a loose lead
โœ… Exploring calmly
โœ… Staying relaxed with other dogs close by at the cafรฉ

A huge well done to Bruno, and to his family for all the practice and patience behind it. Training is a team effort, and they've put in the work! ๐Ÿ’™
Great job, Bruno! ๐Ÿ†

One of the best parts of my work is presenting clients with their Certificate of Completion. Itโ€™s a chance to acknowledge the time, effort and commitment theyโ€™ve put into their dogโ€™s training - and all the progress theyโ€™ve made together. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿพ

Here are Rachel and Button, miniature Dachshund (Dad, Andy not in pic), receiving their certificate during our final session in Hartsholme Park, Lincoln.

Training takes practice, patience and a willingness to learn. Itโ€™s delightful to see that work rewarded with greater confidence and more enjoyment of life together.

Well done, Rachel, Andy, and Button, and thank you for such a lovely review!

Meet Debbie. She's not "a reactive dog." She's a Doberman with a story.

Before Abi and Tom rehomed her, Debbie was attacked by the dogs she lived with. Four of them. She still carries the scars on her head, neck, body and legs.

So when she sees another dog on a walk, her reaction makes sense. It isn't bad behaviour. It's a dog who learned the hard way that other dogs aren't safe.

At home she's playful, cuddly and an absolute joy. That's who Debbie is. Her reactivity is something she does, not who she is, and the same goes for your dog.

We're halfway through her behaviour modification programme, and here's what it's actually looked like:

๐Ÿพ Changing what walks mean to her. We stopped using the usual routes, the ones where Debbie was already primed to react before she'd even seen a dog. New places, fewer triggers, no big stress spikes. Just a chance to enjoy being out.

๐Ÿพ Building skills at home first. Obedience gets built where it's safe and easy, before we expect it to hold up outside. We worked on bike and wheelie bin reactivity in the back yard!

๐Ÿพ Training the humans, too. Abi and Tom have worked in growing Debbie's confidence and skills, including stopping window whining and patrolling, jumping up, and improving poor recall. Their confidence in handling has greatly improved. Behaviour change involves the owner's behaviour just as much as the dog's.

I'll be honest with you: behaviour change is complex and relies on the owners consistency and willingness to learn new skills.

But Abi and Tom have committed fully to this work, and the changes in Debbie tell me we're ready to raise the challenge. I have every confidence in them, and in Debbie, who has so many strengths to build on.๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿพ Dog owners of Lincoln, we have a problem with equipment!

When Iโ€™m out walking with my dog, I see so many dogs wearing equipment that simply isnโ€™t right for them.

Collars too loose or too tight. Harnesses that rub under the legs or are so loose you could practically fit a shoebox between the harness and the dog. And one of the biggest problems I see? Leads that are far too short, giving dogs very little room to move naturally and often adding unnecessary frustration to the walk.

So hereโ€™s my recommendation: go and visit Top to Tail Dog Boutique on Steep Hill in Lincoln. ๐Ÿ•

Sylvie has a fantastic range of properly made collars, harnesses and leads for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

If you have a larger breed, take a look at the beautiful leather collars โ€” the quality is outstanding. And if you own a Greyhound, Whippet or another sighthound, or a Dachshund with their rather unique proportions, youโ€™ll find some gorgeous equipment designed with these dogs in mind.

And please โ€” have a look at the longer leads! Your dog needs enough lead to walk, sniff and move comfortably. The right equipment can make an enormous difference to both the dog and the person at the other end of the lead.

Iโ€™d much rather see owners buying good-quality equipment from a knowledgeable independent dog shop where you can actually find something appropriate for your individual dog than simply grabbing whatever happens to be hanging on the shelf in a huge pet store.

๐ŸŽ And Top to Tail isnโ€™t just about practical equipment.

If youโ€™re buying a present for a dog or dog owner, thereโ€™s a fantastic selection of gifts and lovely things to browse. And, of course, there are Denzelโ€™s favourite dog treats โ€” which happen to be some of my favourites too! ๐Ÿ˜„

So whether your dog needs better equipment, a birthday present, some treats or just a little luxuryโ€ฆ

Get yourself up Steep Hill and have a browse at Top to Tail.

๐Ÿพ Better equipment for your dog.
๐Ÿงก Something a little bit special.
๐Ÿก And youโ€™re supporting a wonderful small Lincoln business at the same time.

Shop local. Support Lincoln independents. And get your dog something that actually fits! ๐Ÿ•

Maverick's family contacted me because his excitement had taken over daily life and made home life exhausting.

He barked constantly, jumped all over visitors, reacted to cars and dogs, and became almost impossible to communicate with once his arousal rose.

He wasn't a bad dog who needed louder commands. Maverick was a bright, enthusiastic dog who needed clearer structure, better communication and help learning how to settle.

His family needed practical tools too, so they could recognise what was happening before everything escalated.

And here is Maverick now: settled on his place bed, calm and happy, with his favourite lobster toy.๐Ÿพ The demand barking has ceased, visitors can now come in without being mobbed, and walks are enjoyable again.๐ŸŽ‰

If this is the kind of change youโ€™d like to see with your dog, you don't have to keep guessing about how to get there.

These 2 Frenchies were Mexican jumping beans when I met them a few weeks ago. No house manners at all, both mad lead pullers and reactive to dogs โ€“ especially the youngster! This is session 3/6 โ€“ Bruceโ€™s high energy is finding an outlet with interactive play and recall games, with more chilled out exploring and sniffing for older boy, Lionel. Wait till you see session 4 - mum Fiona is amazed! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘
