🩷 MEET DERBY 🩷

Derby is a 2-year-old Standard English Bull Terrier girl looking for a new home where she can enjoy a quieter life with someone who understands her quirks and is happy to continue her training.

Derby is a fun, affectionate and wonderfully bonkers Bullie who absolutely loves her person. She enjoys sofa cuddles, getting under the duvet, carrying sticks and logs around, and playing with her favourite Kong and egg toys. She can happily spend hours zooming around with her toys — although don’t expect her to give them back! 😂

She is friendly with people once she has had a little time to settle. She can be nervous when someone new arrives and may jump up and give an excited nip, but being ignored initially and calmly told “down” stops this. Once she has settled, she’s soon off to find a toy or stick to show them and will happily come back for cuddles.

She has had limited socialisation with dogs outside the home and can react when dogs get too close, including snarling and lunging. At a distance she can often be redirected back to her handler with food, and her previous family have already worked with a behaviourist to help manage her reactivity.

Her new owner will need to continue this training, particularly working on focusing back on them when other dogs are around. Derby would benefit enormously from someone experienced who understands Bull Terrier behaviour and is prepared to keep building on the progress she has already made.

Derby is also a girl with some VERY strong opinions about household appliances! 😂

She isn’t keen on loud or unusual noises and can react to rattling trailers, loud exhausts and other unexpected noises. The vacuum cleaner is apparently a particularly exciting enemy, while hair dryers are considered something that must be hunted down and destroyed! A Nutribullet, meanwhile, apparently means ZOOMIES!

She can also become stressed in narrow alleyways and doesn’t enjoy busy or unpredictable environments. For this reason, we feel Derby would be happiest in a quieter, preferably rural home where she can enjoy walks without being surrounded by lots of noise, traffic and other dogs.

She travels well in the car provided the environment isn’t excessively noisy and is generally a good house dog. She can be left for up to around four hours and usually sleeps while she’s alone. She has access to her crate and is generally non-destructive, although every now and then a towel or blanket may mysteriously meet its demise!

Derby has no food aggression and is very motivated by chicken on walks, which has been useful during her training.

She loves a bath but isn’t a fan of having her nails done. Fortunately, her nails stay naturally short from all her running around, with only her dew claws needing attention.

🏡 What are we looking for?

Derby’s ideal home would be:

🐾 An experienced Bull Terrier owner
🐾 As an only dog
🐾 No small furries
🐾 Older children or preferably child-free
🐾 A quieter, rural environment
🐾 Someone committed to ongoing training and behaviour work

Derby isn’t a dog for someone looking for an easy, bomb-proof walking companion. She has some things to work on and will need patience, consistency and sensible management.

But underneath all of that is a loving, hilarious and affectionate Bullie who absolutely adores her person.

We have had her professionally assessed by behaviourist/trainer and report is available on request

Give her a sofa, a duvet, a stick and someone to love, and Derby will be one very happy girl. ❤️

❤️❤️EDIT NOW RESERVED❤️❤️

🩷🩷 Meet Sloane 🩷🩷

Sloane is a gorgeous 1 year & 3 month old female Bull Terrier, around small standard/large mini size, who is looking for an experienced home that can keep up with her energy and help her continue learning.

Sloane is a very affectionate girl who loves people, cuddles and playing. She can be extremely excitable when meeting people, but settles much quicker if she is given some space and allowed to approach in her own time. She absolutely loves attention and will happily climb onto you for cuddles! ❤️

She is a strong, energetic young Bull Terrier and doesn’t always realise just how much power she has. This has caused some problems in her current home, including accidentally knocking over a young child while zooming around. There has been no history of aggression or biting; she has only been known to give an occasional nip when overly excited.

Because of this, Sloane is looking for a child-free home or a home with older, sensible children, where her enthusiasm can be managed safely. She will also need someone who is physically capable of handling her on walks, as she is currently too strong for her owner.

🐾 Sloane loves other dogs and has been around dogs belonging to the family. She is very playful and can be quite full-on, so any canine companion would need to be confident and able to match her energy while also helping her learn appropriate boundaries.

She is very food motivated, enjoys her walks and will play with pretty much anyone who is willing! Her favourite possession is her chunky rope toy, which she absolutely adores — although she has managed to destroy plenty of other toys and even her beds! 😂

Sloane can be destructive when left to entertain herself, so she will need continued training, enrichment and plenty of appropriate outlets for her energy. She is used to being crated and is generally left for no more than around four hours.

She is raw fed because ordinary food can upset her tummy, although there are no known allergies. Her vaccinations are currently due to be updated.

Sloane can be nervous when walking in the dark, particularly around bright lights, and isn’t a fan of puddles or rain — although strangely, she loves having a bath! 🛁

Vaccinated, chipped and neutered

🏡 Sloane’s ideal home

❤️ Experienced Bull Terrier owners only
👶 Child-free home or older children only
🐕 Potentially suitable with a compatible companion with a proven history of successfully living with another dog
💪 Someone physically capable of handling a strong, lively young Bull Terrier
🎓 A commitment to ongoing training and helping her learn appropriate manners
🧠 Someone who understands that her enthusiasm and strength need managing, not just exercising but enrichment and fulfilment

Sloane is a lovely, affectionate young girl with bags of personality, but she is not going to be the right dog for everyone. She needs an active, confident home that can give her structure, training, boundaries and plenty of appropriate ways to burn off that enormous Bull Terrier energy.

We went to assess Sloane and instantly fell in love with her. If you think you could be the right home for this gorgeous girl, please click the below link

❤️❤️ ADOPTER FOUND ❤️❤️

🆘 URGENT FURever Home Needed for Senior Bullie 🆘

Universal Bull Terrier Rescue is looking for a very special FURever home for a lovely 10-year-old male Miniature Bull Terrier who, through no fault of his own, now needs somewhere safe and loving to call home following a bereavement.

❤️ He was previously adopted through Universal Bull Terrier Rescue, so we know this lovely boy and are determined to help him find the right home once again.

He is a happy, lovely-natured senior boy who is generally in good health. He does have some age-related needs, including being partially sighted in one eye, and he currently has a small skin patch on his leg which is being treated.
Oh and a cute wonky ear where he had a hematoma and missing a few teefies but nothing takes away from his lovely character, and he is doing well.

🐾 He has a wonderful nature and is great with other dogs.

He really is a gorgeous older boy who deserves to spend his retirement years being loved, cherished and thoroughly spoilt.

⏰ URGENT Needs moving asap .

We are therefore urgently appealing for a FURever home or suitable foster placement.

If you think you could offer this special boy the loving home he deserves, please contact Universal Bull Terrier Rescue.

Please share far and wide — we desperately want to find him a safe and loving home before the deadline. 🐾❤️

Currently in Gloucestershire but transport can be arranged

🐾🐾 EDIT-NOW RESERVED 🐾🐾

🐾 Meet Bruce 🐾

Bruce is a 5-year-old male English Bull Terrier, turning 6 on 3rd December. We are hoping to find him a new family as soon as possible.

Bruce is a big, affectionate character who absolutely loves people and cuddles. He is very excitable with adults and would quite happily climb onto your lap and push himself against you for attention! He is friendly with strangers too, happily allowing them to stroke him while wagging his tail.

👧 Bruce has lived happily with children, including an 8-year-old autistic child and a 14-year-old girl. His family describe him as being “good as gold” with the children.

🐶 Bruce can be boisterous around other dogs and doesn’t tend to play with them. On lead he can be quite “gobby”, but this is not considered aggressive. He has previously been pinned by another Mini Bull who tore his ear, and despite this he did not retaliate. He is not currently allowed off lead with other dogs, so any future introductions would need to be handled carefully and sensibly.

🐱 Bruce grew up with cats, although the cats in his current home don’t particularly tolerate him! He will show interest in cats he sees while out walking, and because his behaviour around unfamiliar cats is unknown, we would not recommend a home with cats or other small furries.

🎾 Bruce absolutely loves his ball and enjoys hard plastic and indestructible rubber toys. He has been taught to sit before his ball is thrown and also knows to sit and wait for his food. Despite loving food, he has no food aggression.

Bruce can be left for several hours and is described as very chilled at home, generally sleeping while his family are out. He sleeps in the kitchen on his own bed and has access to a crate, which he has had since puppyhood.

There are, however, some important things prospective adopters need to be aware of.

🏥 Bruce is very difficult at the vets. His vaccinations are not currently up to date because he becomes extremely stressed and difficult to handle there. He can be bathed at home, but his ears cannot currently be checked and his nails cannot be trimmed easily. He will therefore need an experienced owner who is prepared to work patiently on cooperative handling and veterinary visits.

Bruce has also previously required surgery on three occasions after eating things he shouldn’t — including a ham bone/solid chew, corn on the cob and part of a rubber toy. Thankfully, he has not had an incident requiring surgery for the last couple of years, but his tendency to eat inappropriate objects means that careful management will be essential.

🌿 Bruce has ongoing skin issues, which have been persistent rather than seasonal.
He’s currently on Itraconazole 125mg per day which appears to be keeping allergies under control. This can be purchased online, with prescription, for approximately 75p a day.
His new family will need to be prepared for this financially.

🚶‍♂️ Bruce has a harness and Halti and walks better using these, although he can still pull. He has no reported reaction to traffic or bicycles.

🏡 What we’re looking for

Bruce would be best suited to experienced Bull Terrier owners who understand the breed and are prepared to continue his training, particularly around handling, walking and his tendency to eat things he shouldn’t.

He would need:

● 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A home with older children
● 🐕 Careful management around other dogs
● 🚫 No small furries
● 🎓 An owner committed to ongoing training and handling work
● 🩺 Someone prepared to work patiently on his difficult vet visits and bring his vaccinations and routine healthcare up to date
● ❤️ A family who understands that Bruce is a big, boisterous, affectionate Bull Terrier with plenty of personality!

Bruce has no reported bite history and is a hugely loving boy who enjoys being close to his people. He will need the right home rather than simply any home, but for an experienced owner who is willing to put the work in, Bruce has lots of love, fun and companionship to give.

If you think Bruce could be the boy for you, please complete an adoption application with Universal Bull Terrier Rescue. 🐾❤️

EDIT NOW RESERVED

🩷Meet Nelly 🩷

Nelly is a 6-year-old female English Bull Terrier, born on 10th January. She has been with her family since she was around 10 weeks old and is now looking for a new home due to a change in circumstances. We are hoping to find her a new family as soon as possible.

❤️ Nelly absolutely loves people. She is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling up with you — ideally sitting on your lap all day! She enjoys being with her people and would suit a home where she can have plenty of companionship.

👧 Nelly is very good with children and has lived happily around them. She is gentle enough that she won’t even take food from them. However, because of her size and excitable nature, we would not recommend placing her with babies or very young children.

🐶 Nelly’s relationship with other dogs is more complicated and will need careful management. She can become overstimulated during prolonged interactions with dogs and has nipped a couple of dogs in the past. The severity of these incidents is unknown, but the dogs were able to be separated and she did not lock on.

She has never been allowed off lead with other dogs and, importantly, Nelly does not cope well with small dogs. Her current family report that she can become very focused on them and has a high prey drive. For this reason, she will need to be an only dog and introductions to other dogs will need to be managed very carefully.

🐾 Nelly also has a very high prey drive towards small animals and is described as a definite “big no” around small furries. She will lock on when she sees small animals, so she must not be placed in a home with cats, rabbits or other small pets.

🎾 Nelly isn’t particularly interested in most toys, although she enjoys her treat toy! Footballs don’t tend to last long around her, and hosepipes and splashing water can make her extremely excited and focused, so these are best avoided.

🍽️ She is good around food. Nelly will happily watch you eat without pestering you and won’t take food unless it is given to her. She is currently fed a combination of wet and dry food.

🏡 At home, Nelly has access to the whole house and sleeps on her bed in the owner’s bedroom — although she may occasionally decide the end of the human bed is more comfortable! She is a real people dog and likes to be where her family are.

She is currently being left from around 8am until 4:30pm, although a change in circumstances means she will need to become accustomed to being left even longer during the day, which is another reason for her rehoming. She is generally settled at home but can become restless if she hears a fox outside.

🎓 Nelly attended puppy classes and knows her basic cues, but she has no reliable recall. She is very focused on everything happening around her, so her attention can be difficult to maintain. She would benefit from an experienced owner continuing her training.

🚶‍♀️ Nelly isn’t a fan of long walks and currently tends to walk for around 15 minutes. Her new family should gradually build on this at her own pace rather than expecting her to suddenly become a long-distance walking companion.

🎈 Nelly really doesn’t cope well with balloons. She absolutely loves playing with them, but becomes very focused and determined to pop them. She also reacts to balloons being blown up and will immediately want to get hold of them.

🏥 One of Nelly’s biggest positives is that she is very good at the vets. She has had plenty of veterinary handling in the past, including when she had her puppies, and is comfortable being handled. She allows her ears to be checked, can be bathed and examined, and is generally very cooperative with handling. Her nails are currently done by someone she knows and she is fine with this.

🏡 What we’re looking for

Nelly needs a loving home with someone who understands English Bull Terriers and is prepared to manage her prey drive and reactions around other dogs.

She would be best suited to:

• ❤️ A home where she can receive plenty of love and companionship
• 🐕 An only-dog home
• 🚫 No cats or small furries
• 👧 A home with older, sensible children
• 🎓 An experienced owner committed to ongoing training
• 🐾 Someone who understands that her interactions with other dogs need careful management
• 🏡 A secure home where she cannot chase or access small animals

Nelly is a wonderfully affectionate girl who simply adores her people. She has lots of love to give and would thrive with an owner who appreciates her Bull Terrier personality, understands her limitations and is prepared to manage her carefully.

She isn’t looking for a home where she will be expected to mix freely with every dog she meets — she needs someone who will recognise what she can and can’t cope with and set her up for success.

If you think Nelly could be the girl for you, please complete an adoption application with Universal Bull Terrier Rescue. 🐾❤️
