Wait, WHAT? Science? Evolution?

I've been trying to get some equine 'education' on the HM websites, only there isn't any. But I did learn a little bit more about the deception and manipulation. Bear with me here.....

What science tell us that a HM trim is beneficial?
There is no science at all behind HM's trim theory. It's a signature. Something unique to get LS noticed. A great marketing tool for those who don't know better. There is in fact a stack of science which shows this trim method is harmful. Not to mention further stacks of evidence to blow the misinformation out of the water. And yes, before the HM goons come baying, I can absolutely cite it. But if you need to ask for it, please do me the courtesy of swapping for credible evidence that a long toe does not create a lever force. (eg. defy physics. Go on, show me!)
Evolution too? Are you kidding? The horse is a prey animal. LS's flipper feet dream would get them ended fast when faced with a predator. In fact, they wouldn't have evolved at all with such a handicap. There would be no equines.
There is nothing natural about what they are doing to horses hooves.

Fortunately horses have historically coped extremely well without the interference of megalomaniac cult leaders butchering their hooves and brainwashing vulnerable owners. However, spending some time on the websites today has revealed some interesting insights into the secret closed world of the HM cult.

Once you click through 'enroll now' it reads like a late night shopping channel presenter, waffling nothing in particular, but making all the promises you want to hear about how this *product* is life changing. It's the key to your horses health. It's a soul searching journey which will change you and your horses lives forever. It tells us we have been relying on outdated practices and misinformation. It's a catalyst for change. Time to take control. Embrace a brighter sounder future. Works for every breed. Rid your horse of hoof problems. Become a hoof hero for your horse. You are changing your horses life. It's time to start healing. A transformative path to healthier hooves. Don't think about what you're spending. Think about what you're saving. Discover the secret. Don't leave it to chance......

Pay here

All of this and more coercion is there to witness. It's laying the path for what's to come. If you are desperately looking for help, if you are vulnerable and your horse has just had a laminitis diagnosis. You are fresh meat.

During the 15 day course, days 2 to 6 are about 'Shifting mindsets.' That's 5 days of training you to listen and absorb what LS says, and discard everything you thought you knew. This is before anything useful, anything equine. It's classic brainwashing. 'Shifting mindsets' aka 'Thought reform'. This is coercive persuasion, not learning.

This is how LS operates. It's a clever business model, granted. All you need to do is inflate your importance and declare yourself an expert with no qualifications or relevant experience. Then work out your USP. This is a standard business and marketing pathway to success. USP is a unique selling point. Now, what could possibly make HM stand out from all the other trimmers? Flipper feet and parallel P3. I have no doubt LS is aware that these 'signatures' are harmful. She knows horses are suffering because of this method. Though she won't drop her USP. That's the money maker. I know, she knows her trim has ended horses lives. Humanely euthanised with catastrophic laminitis. She knows this, but continues to take the cash and dish the B.S.

So now you have a bunch of followers who believe you have the answer. What's next?
Figure out a way to deliver your bull s**t with as little effort as possible, and distance yourself from the fall out.
Online courses for everyone. You take the cash, they get to watch the videos you made years ago. (Before you changed your mind on diet) Train trimmers to deliver your method and take the hit for you when it goes wrong. Coercion and abuse by proxy. That's evil genius territory.
Find venues where you can run workshops, delivering more toxic misinformation and isolating people further from from the professionals who can see what you are. Do some workshops abroad, and call yourself an international school. Very credible of course. Until international vets start naming you on Welfare orders. Whoops.

But now the foundations to your empire are built. You can sit back, take the cash, call the orders and give zero s**ts for the horses. Or the owners.

This method has been harming horses for long enough now, HM have built in some revolting clauses which they think will leave them / her without liability for the damaged caused.
For anyone considering a HM trimmer or spending money on their course, you must be aware of these declarations.

It did amuse me that 'refund' link didn't work (takes you to X) but the 'can't touch me' link did.

"We are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete or current. Anv reliance on the material on this site is at your own risk."
"We do not warrant that the quality of any products, Services, information, or other material purchased or obtained by you will meet your expectations, or that any errors in the Service will be corrected"

Basically 'don't blame me, it's not my fault. You didn't have to believe me'

If HM screw up and cause harm to your horse (which they do) or if you cause harm to your horse under the impression you have been trained to trim online, then don't go crying to HM.
The 'support' is only there while the money comes in, and while you remain a loyal follower. The moment you question your leader, advocate for your horse, ask for another opinion or look elsewhere for help, LS will drop you like a s**tty stick and kick you on the way down.
Owners have told me about the treatment they have received.

Last week I was sent a collection of photos which gave me sleepless nights. (Thank you to that person. Genuinely.) These photos had been shared within the Phoenix group, by owners who are trimming their own horses after paying LS approx £300. They are not UK. We're not sharing those. They are all from this year.
The photos are horrific in some cases. I have questioned myself on whether to share them. Not because owners and HM won't like it. I don't give a stuff about that, and I'm immune to online bullying by now. Abuse needs to be called out. But because these are genuinely disturbing images, and I'm appalled that any group of human beings would refuse to recognise this as harm to horses. That really shocks me. To my core. I struggle to believe that HM can convert people who love horses into people who cannot see the pain and harm they are causing. Though this evidence keeps coming.
What I'm learning is that we face the biggest abusive group scam organisation that equine welfare has ever seen. Not only do they dish this abuse out themselves, refusing to recognise suffering and isolating owners to avoid detection, but LS had refined multiple methods to deliver abuse by proxy while elevating her own status far beyond the monstrous narcissist I believe she is.

Sometime in the future we will remember HM for being 'that equine cult' and the horrors that are revealed will be the nails in HM's coffin.
The horses ponies and owners who have been manipulated and suffered at the knives of HM will see justice.
We will learn from this, and never let it happen again.

20 years ago, this happened.

Many of you are too young to remember. This was before you could say what you like on social media to gather your followers.

But it still happened.

There are some very striking similarities here. Though before you read these articles, I'd like you to consider two points which are quite dissimilar in comparison to the current disease of HM.

Firstly, Dr Strasser was a vet. She had worked for many years on the anatomy, physiology, pathology, and rehabilitation of horses' feet. She has published papers and books on this topic.

And LS refuses to even consider veterinary science.

Secondly. These prosecutions were brought under the Protection of Animals Act 1911. The maximum custodial penalty was 6 months in prison.
The passing of the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Act 2001 brought significantly higher penalties. The maximum prison term for animal abuse is now 5 years with an unlimited fine.

Two simple requests tonight guys.

Let's stop with the 'not all horses' crap. Abuse happens everywhere, right under your nose. Those who dish it out do so in a myriad of ways. Some abusers make efforts to recruit others to their scheme, and some who deliver abusive practices may not be fully aware of the ethical and legal boundaries they have crossed.
The Animal Welfare Act, and the Veterinary Surgeons Act are there to protect our animals. If you break these statutory laws, there will rightly be consequences.
So keep your denial and deflection off my page. Multiple horses have died, and just because yours is ok, does not minimise or detract from the harm and pain caused to others.

Secondly, FARRIERS & TRIMMERS!
Help us cure this disease our industry is suffering from.
I know many of you will run a mile at the mention of HM from a prospective new customer. I get that. It's a pain in the arse we just don't need. Not many are as stupid as me. The firing line is not a nice place to be. But avoiding the issue is not going to help. We have a job to do. Together.

We can only fix this by providing alternative hoof care for those who are moving away from HM. We are starting to see the snowball effect now. Owners are contacting me to explain they don't trust HM, but there's nobody else available to trim these horses and ponies.
We are certainly not going to fix this problem by avoiding it. We're going to have to pull together here. In fact, the only way we can take down this bat s**t cult of shame, misinformation and horror stories is to work together.
That's a concept they don't understand.

The biggest thing that will bring them down is active unity throughout our industry. LS rejoices in division and fear. That's how they operate, and they rely on it to keep you at a distance. Don't fall for it. Face it down. Join me! 😁

Please post a comment with your area if you are willing to help owners get away from HM, and do something wonderful to cure this disease.

Their time will come. Let's catch the horses and owners first. ❤️

Imagine being completely distraught because your beautiful mare has become laminitic for apparently no reason. She's in pain, and you and your family are looking for answers. Your vet has begun their investigations, but you know this can be terminal and you're terrified of losing her.
You heart is aching. You've been crying with her while she struggles to move on her deep bed. You turn to Facebook groups for some advice and support.

Then you get this extraordinary unsolicited voice message. You don't know this woman. She doesn't know your horse outside of two lateral X- rays you shared.

Now you can really understand how desperate and vulnerable owners are coerced into this trap.

It's disgusting. It's a con. Cold calling vulnerable people with bull s**t promises. Remember, HM don't see suffering. So those horses who are 'turned around now' are usually beginning a painful uncertain journey. Owners who 'follow the process' with the long toe low heel trim, become isolated from the professions with the skills to help. They know this looks wrong, but constant pressure, false diagnosis and reassurance keeps them compliant. It's a very lonely road.

I could pull this to sheds of course, but i shall give you the pleasure.

I know my farrier friends are going to love this one!!

I've had some shocking cases come in over the past couple of days. It has spurred me on to push this harder.
I feel ashamed to be part of an industry where this type of abuse and bullying has been accepted for too long.

If you are scared to contact us, you don't need to be. We can put you in touch with others who have been through the same. We can support you in finding appropriate hoof care for your horse or pony.

Later tonight, I will post the cold call message you can expect from HM when you go looking for help online.

Bullying? Me? No.
Exposing this darkness. Dissecting the operation of equine suffering and death. Promoting truth and honesty.

I'm really pleased if your horse has survived with HM. Truly, this lifts me after seeing so much sadness. But ask yourself this.

What is an acceptable ratio for suffering and death versus survival?

If you're on the edge of contacting me, do it. We've got you. Let's make this right

This is literally the opportunity of a lifetime. LS - if you have developed a method you believe in, you have absolutely nothing to lose here.

Unless..... you don't believe it can stand up. Unless you've got something to hide?

If you accept this amazing opportunity, and your method is shown to be beneficial, I will issue a public apology to you.
I will also attend your course, host your courses for free and commit to 17 horses in my care undergoing HM trims.

I will eat every one of my HM negative words, and wear your branded kit in every video and at every trade show I attend.

I will also issue a press release about my dramatic U turn in your favour, and fully fund one scholarship placement to complete your training course and become a 'licenced' trimmer.

Dr Fowler awaits your response.

📩To Deborah Norris 📬

Thank you, Deborah for your detailed explanation as to why HM wont take up the offer of an independent scientific study posted on Longmarsh Track Livery

🔍Let’s explore in detail your public statement, which I will assume is on behalf of HM.

👌We actually agree on many points (related to scientific methodology not HM), so let’s explore them and discuss further the areas where we are not aligned.

✔️We are in agreement that high-quality equine research is expensive, logistically complex, and requires careful control of variables, especially when studying metabolic and endocrinopathic laminitis.

✔️No one (especially not me) disputes that a gold-standard, multi-arm randomised controlled trial would require serious funding, appropriate ethical approval, adequate statistical power, controls for confounding variables such as diet, management and environment, and clear protocols for handling withdrawals and welfare concerns. All of these considerations were included in my proposed draft methodology. However, none of these challenges are insurmountable with a willing and collaborative team.

✔️Thank you also for agreeing that my offer to design and bring together relevant experts to execute an independent study, in which HM trimming forms part of the study arms and where HM would be invited to participate in the study design process, is “wonderful and of interest”.

✔️Given that we are making good progress in finding common ground, I would like to respond further to some of your critiques for accuracy and balance.

✔️I offered a first draft proposal for HM review, critique and collaboration. I explicitly welcomed HM feedback and alternative suggestions. Thank you for being the only person (presumably on behalf of HM?) so far who has recognised my invitation and engaged with the draft proposal itself.

📝I disagree that metabolic and endocrine horses need to be excluded from the study. I carefully outlined the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study is specifically designed to test the HM hypothesis that correction of chronic hoof capsule imbalance reduces the incidence and severity of laminar tearing (laminitis) compared with standard care.

📝In this study the primary outcome measure is the incidence of laminitis. To detect any difference between treatment groups, we must recruit a population of horses/ponies at sufficient risk of developing laminitis (that could lead to lamellae tearing) during the study period. Without the possibility of naturally occurring laminitis, there would be no meaningful way to assess whether one intervention performs differently from another. We have designed the study to allow for development of chronic hoof imbalance, metabolic and endocrine related laminitis.

📝You commented that it would be unlikely to find owners who, despite their horses having metabolic or endocrine disease, continue to keep them on grass. The pasture exposure (required for inclusion) would primarily be during the winter period preceding the study. There are many horses with well-controlled metabolic and endocrine disease that remain at pasture during winter that could be recruited.

📝I am also struggling to understand the “red flag” you have attached to my inclusion criteria. My proposal is to recruit horses with hoof imbalance but no active or acute laminitis. You suggest that this reflects a failure to recognise that mechanical imbalance of the hoof creates inflammatory changes within the laminae. However, my inclusion criteria specifically allow such horses to be recruited (all groups start with hoof imbalance - remember they are also randomised to treatment group) and for chronic hoof imbalance to manifest. If hoof imbalance is indeed the only causative problem, then during the course of the study that imbalance would persist in the standard-care group and, according to the HM hypothesis, should result in a greater incidence or severity of laminitis.

📝To be clear, the exact definitions of “active” and “acute” laminitis would need to be agreed by all parties before recruitment began. Establishing precise definitions and controlling variables as tightly as possible is a fundamental part of robust study design.

📝We are testing the HM hypothesis that correction of chronic hoof capsule imbalance reduces the incidence and severity of laminar tearing compared with standard care. Therefore, we must recruit horses exhibiting hoof imbalance and compare outcomes between those receiving HM trimming and those receiving standard care. I have also proposed including pasture exposure in both groups because any robust scientific design should account for potential confounding variables, including those that HM may not consider central to the disease process. This is exactly what good science is intended to do.

📝Hoof-pastern axis would be measured using the same methodology for all horses. That point is straightforward.

📝Regarding your comments about my impartiality, I think there may be a misunderstanding regarding my proposed role. I would not be collecting data, assessing outcomes or conducting statistical analyses. My offer is simply to help bring together experts from both sides of the discussion to collaboratively develop a scientifically valid protocol that could obtain ethical approval and withstand peer review. Thank you, however, for acknowledging that scientific methodology exists precisely to minimise bias. It does, regardless of who initially proposed the study, or indeed who is involved in the study.

📝I have not wilfully misrepresented HM teachings. Rather, I have directly translated HM’s stated claims into a testable scientific hypothesis. If you feel that the hypothesis I have proposed does not accurately reflect HM’s position, I would welcome an alternative suggestion. I would be happy to modify the study design accordingly, provided HM also agrees that the revised hypothesis accurately reflects their claims.

✔️Your comments regarding costs are excellent and largely align with my own.

❌One small clarification: my expectation would be that the study would ultimately be funded as a complete project rather than as a series of separate mini-studies. However, I acknowledge that pilot studies (not case studies) are all established approaches within research and could be considered if appropriate.

❌A larger and more important point concerns your understanding of ethics approval. Ethical approval is obtained before any horses are recruited and before any substantive research activity begins. While protocol development and ethics submissions do require time and effort, it does not require research funding for interested parties to collaborate on designing a study, preparing an ethics application and exploring potential funding opportunities.

📝I contributed my first draft proposal voluntarily and in my own time, for free. I am more than happy to continue refining a study design collaboratively on the same basis.

📝Ethical endpoints are what are monitored throughout a study. Decisions about whether an individual horse remains enrolled would be based on predefined welfare criteria agreed in advance. Even if animals were withdrawn because welfare thresholds had been reached, the resulting data is likely to still provide valuable and scientifically valid information, provided the study had been designed appropriately from the outset. Such an outcome would not represent a failure; it would itself be an important finding.

📝Social media outreach for collaborative research ideas is not unheard of in veterinary science. Researchers frequently use public platforms to gauge interest, identify collaborators, recruit participants and stimulate discussion where traditional routes may be slower. A scientist publicly offering input on study design and presenting an outline for discussion is not the same as demanding immediate commitment to a completed protocol. Genuine collaborations often begin this way because stakeholder input is necessary before a final protocol can be developed.

📝Please also note that the absence of attached funding does not make a proposal a “dog whistle”. Preliminary concepts are often discussed and refined before collaborators are identified, protocols finalised, ethics approval sought and funding applications prepared. Dismissing such proposals outright risks overlooking opportunities to generate precisely the evidence that everyone claims to want.

✔️Scepticism of an as-yet unfunded draft proposal is healthy and entirely expected.

❌However, framing the proposal as hate-mongering or prejudice, rather than engaging with the invitation to collaborate, risks further entrenching divisions. Horses suffering from laminitis deserve stronger evidence regarding all interventions, including both HM trimming and conventional approaches. This is precisely why both groups were included in the proposed design.

🥅If the shared goal is improved welfare through evidence, then the most constructive path forward is to refine the proposal collaboratively, agree a scientifically robust design, seek ethical approval and funding, and then test the competing claims under controlled conditions.

⚖️HM practitioners report success in rehabilitation cases. Conventional farriery practitioners report success too. Let us test these claims under properly controlled conditions.

✅Owners deserve transparent information not prolonged tribalism.

I think we should write this all down now to build the methodology. My inbox is open.

Disclaimer: I do not endorse Hoofing Marvellous methods. I am a strong critic. I believe the method is causing unnecessary suffering. I am advocating for valid data so horse owners can make ethical decisions. This neither makes me vile, a hater, a bully, insincere or a biased scientist. I am the null hypothesis(H0).

It's getting tough. I wanted to put out a video tonight but I don't have the energy.
I knew this would be hard. Though I didn't account for the hate and vitriol together with the sadness and the weight of recording owners experience.
I want to shout from the roof tops what I have learned. But I can't. It has to wait. Follow process. Be protected.
I will not share it, despite the constant calls to 'show us your evidence'.... it's all very familiar.

The comments and messages are getting pretty nasty. I try to strike a balance between ignoring the venomous hate and addressing any hostile questions. The venomous emails get deleted. We are now deleting voicemails too. I'm sorry if you are a customer leaving a message. Please email us instead. Currently we are not listening to voicemails as half of them are anonymous cult members throwing insults and threats. Maybe the same person, repeatedly. I don't know. We're just not picking them up now.
I went out with a friend last weekend, and worried all night about who was left at home.
I read five words into a message before I decide if I'll delete it straight away.
The people I'm working with on this are also affected. Though we all have the same drive, and I don't think anyone can change that without altering our DNA.

Maybe I look unprofessional. I'm working the algorithm to get the message further. That means posting content that's gets a reaction. HM are very good at that, but I can do it too. I don't know if my business will recover. Though Trickle Net started for equine welfare, and if it dies for equine welfare then perhaps that's poetic. I can live with that.

It's hard, but then I think of the horses and the owners caught up in this HM bull s**t, and I'm full of fire again. Because of the ingrained culture of bullying and brainwashing, there's nobody else who is willing to publicly appeal to collect evidence.

"Who the hell do I think I am?" A common cult question.

I am the woman who will expose you for exactly what you are. I see you. I know what you're doing. At some point, everyone else will.

If you have a horse who was harmed by the low heel / long toe HM trim, please come and talk to us. We know the shame you may carry, and we know what bullying you may have encountered. You will be supported, and we can put you in touch with other owners who have been there too. If you are worried about how your horse is responding to the trim, pop us a message. Listen to your gut and don't leave it any longer. We can help get you the support you need.

I don't want sympathy. I don't need a therapist or a couples councillor. I won't throw a wobbly or fain distress for reactions. Just share the bo****ks out of this, and let's get this toxic misinformation and equine abuse ended.
