I had a fab time (as always) on Sunday at the annual DogX conference which is created and hosted by PACT

I love an in-person conference when I can make it. This one is all about comfort and networking with lovely lovely people. I always come away with my values and passion securely reaffirmed. There were some really valuable and insightful talks from:

Ted and his lovely owner/ guardian Tina are working through my stages of loose lead walking and recall.

This is a little snapshot of our second session together. They are beautifully demonstrating how putting the initial foundations in place from our first session really pay off 💚

Before meeting me, Ted was pulling like a train on his walks. We still have a bit more work to do in the final stage of training, but he’s almost ready for it!

Special mention for Tina being an absolute star student ⭐️ She has diligently read through and followed my instructions. Well done Tina! 👏🏻

What is everyone doing to keep cool?

In addition to my earlier post about dogs in hot weather, know that it is perfectly acceptable to let your dog be a vegetable in this heat if they don’t want to do anything. Provide for their needs by keeping them cool and ensuring they always have water available, but if they just want to rest a lot, like we probably do, let them.

Ted and his family have just started working with me 💚 It’s his first birthday tomorrow and we’re introducing the foundations of coming reliably when called, and walking nicely on a lead in a fun and enjoyable way for everyone.

If you’re taking your dog to enjoy the beach, here’s a few points to keep in mind to make sure you have a great time 🏝️

Although it can be tempting to just go with it and make the most of it if you’re on holiday, remember that if your dog struggles with other dogs, people, coming when called or eating things they shouldn’t, this will still be the case on the beach. You can still enjoy it while taking precautions and managing these scenarios to keep everyone happy and safe - including everyone else that is also trying to enjoy their holiday 😅

An important reminder during this warm weather to look out for our wildlife 💚

I was concerned to find this very young wobbly hedgehog stumbling into the road yesterday afternoon. I took him to the very helpful in Hykeham. They said he was underweight and dehydrated and quickly gobbled up a plate full of cat food.

The environment is so dry and hard at the moment it is difficult for these little guys to get the food and water that they need.
