✨ A Sunday Morning with Miss Betty ✨

Good morning, my dear admirers.

Well, Mandy arrived slightly earlier than expected this morning, muttering something about needing to drop the Rascals off somewhere. Honestly, the woman is always dashing about on one mission or another.

Nevertheless, she arrived, and naturally, I was ready and waiting at ten to nine. Punctuality is, after all, the mark of a lady.

We enjoyed a lovely steady stroll around the block. The sun was actually shining, the birds were tweeting, and there was the gentlest little breeze in the air.

Of course, Mandy spent a considerable amount of time complaining about the breeze.

You know what she’s like.

The poor thing freezes at the mere suggestion of a temperature change. One little gust of wind and she’s behaving as though she’s crossing the Arctic. Honestly, it’s all very dramatic.

I also received my complimentary photograph, as is only proper. I must say, the yellow roses made a particularly attractive backdrop. They complemented my elegance rather beautifully.

After that, we enjoyed another gentle stroll around the block before returning home.

Nothing terribly exciting to report, which suits me perfectly. I shall now be spending the afternoon doing what refined ladies do best…

Absolutely nothing.

A little snooze here, a little lounging there, perhaps a brief inspection of the garden from a comfortable distance.

Tell me, how are you spending your Sunday?

I remain, as ever, elegant… exhausted… and entirely correct.

🐾 The Russell Rascals Reporting In! 🐾

Miss Polly, Mr Buster and Mr Bully here! 😊

We thought we’d keep the morning walk nice and quiet today because it’s Sunday. So, for once, we did exactly as we were told! 😇

Our leads went on, we headed out of the house, and enjoyed a lovely stroll around the block. The sun had just started to come out too, which made everything feel rather pleasant.

We didn’t make a peep. No mischief, no drama, no squirrel-related incidents to report. We figured everyone deserved a little Sunday lie-in, so we behaved ourselves and kept things peaceful.

Therefore, there really isn’t too much to report this morning…

Which is probably a first! 🤣

We’ll see you again at 3 o’clock, Mandy.

Until then,

Mr. Axil – Proud as Punch and Learning the Ropes 🖤

Just look at that face! Mr. Axil sitting there looking very pleased with himself after another successful training session.

Lead walking has been a big focus of his course because, if we’re being honest, Mr. Axil has previously approached walks with all the subtlety of a freight train, often leaving Mum and Dad wondering if their shoulders would survive the journey!

Today’s session took place somewhere different from our usual walking routes, which meant lots of new smells, sights and adventures to explore. To begin with, Axil wasn’t entirely convinced about this strange new place and spent some time taking everything in. That’s completely normal – new environments can be challenging, even for confident dogs.

As the session progressed, however, everything started to click. By the middle and end of the walk, Axil was making some fantastic choices, settling into his work and showing that he really can walk politely when he understands what’s being asked of him.

Even better, Mum felt confident handling him in several different walking positions that we practised, which is a huge win. Training isn’t just about the dog learning new skills – it’s about helping owners feel comfortable and capable too.

One thing i often talk about is finding the right tool for the individual dog and owner. Whether that’s a collar, a harness, a Halti, or another suitable piece of equipment, they’re all simply tools. No single tool is right for every dog. The best choice is the one that allows the dog to learn effectively while giving the owner confidence, comfort and control.

My job isn’t to force every dog into the same setup; it’s to find what works best for that dog, that owner and that situation.

A brilliant session from Mr. Axil today. New location, new challenges, lots of progress, and one very proud boy at the end of it. Well done, Axil! 🐾💕

🚨 Is Your Dog a Full-Time Window Security Guard? 🚨

You know the dog…

The one that launches itself at the window every time a leaf blows past.

The one that barks at the postman, the neighbour, the cat, the dog across the road, a passing car, a pigeon, a plastic bag and occasionally absolutely nothing at all.

The dog that spends all day glued to the window, convinced the entire street is its responsibility.

Here’s the thing…

Many owners think they’re being kind by giving their dog “something to watch” during the day.

In reality, they may be giving their dog a full-time security job they never applied for.

Imagine being on duty 24 hours a day. Never switching off. Never relaxing. Always watching for movement. Always ready to sound the alarm.

That’s exhausting.

For some dogs, constant access to windows can actually increase barking, frustration, anxiety and hypervigilance. Every person, dog or squirrel that passes becomes something they feel responsible for dealing with.

The good news is that there are things you can do.

✅ Use frosted window film or screens to block access to visual triggers.

✅ Move furniture away from windows so your dog isn’t spending all day watching the world go by.

✅ Teach a calm alternative behaviour when something passes outside.

✅ Reward quiet observation instead of barking.

✅ Provide enrichment, training and activities that give your dog something more productive to focus on.

✅ Help your dog learn that not everything outside requires an emergency response.

The goal isn’t to stop your dog noticing things.

The goal is to help them realise that they don’t need to deal with everything they see.

Because let’s be honest…

The neighbourhood already has enough security guards.

Your dog deserves a break.

The Russell Rascals Report – By Miss Polly, Mr Buster & Mr Bully

Well, Mandy turned up this morning and, quite frankly, she brought the rain with her.

Absolutely unacceptable.

The moment we saw what was happening outside, we launched an immediate protest. Some people do a rain dance. We did a rain walk. We barked, screamed and generally informed the entire neighbourhood that we did not approve of today’s weather conditions.

The protest began in the house and continued all the way down the street.

There were curtains twitching everywhere. People were peeking through windows wondering what all the fuss was about.

We weren’t causing a fuss.

We were issuing an official weather complaint to the gods.

And do you know what?

It worked.

After a few minutes of marching, shouting and making our feelings known, the rain stopped completely.

Coincidence ??

We think not.

We can now officially confirm that we are Rain Gods. We shouted loudly enough that they heard us all the way up there.

Once the weather situation had been dealt with, we enjoyed a lovely walk. Mandy insisted on taking separate photos of us this morning. To be fair, they turned out quite alright. Miss Polly was especially pleased with hers and has already requested several copies for her fans.

We had a nice walk back, received some treats afterwards (as is only right), and generally had a very successful morning.

Right then, Mandy.

See you again at 3 o’clock.

Try not to bring the rain with you this time.

🐾 Miss Poppy Here! 🐾

I must admit, having two big sisters is actually brilliant! ❤️

Ruby is my big Rottweiler sister and she’s my best playmate ever. We play tug-of-war, chase each other around the garden, steal each other’s toys, and sometimes try to investigate what’s in each other’s food bowls. It’s very important puppy business. 😇

Then there’s Miss Luna. She’s Head of Security, and she takes her job VERY seriously.

Luna is always keeping an eye on me. If I’m running too fast, being too silly, annoying Ruby, or generally making questionable life choices, Luna appears out of nowhere to remind me to behave myself. Apparently not everything is a game. Who knew? 🤷‍♀️

She keeps me calm when I get overexcited, makes sure I don’t get into too much trouble, and is always watching over me. Sometimes I think she has eyes in the back of her head!

I might roll my eyes when she tells me off, but I know she’s looking after me really. ❤️

So I’ve got Ruby for fun and games, and Luna for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

I think I’ve got the best sisters a young Rottie could ask for

🐾 Russell Rascal’s Morning Report 🐾

Well… Mandy was not impressed this morning.

Apparently, one of us (and before anyone asks, we are NOT naming names) left a lovely little surprise in the kitchen . 💩

Now, in our defence, the back door was shut. What exactly were we supposed to do? Cross our legs? We don’t even have the right muscles for that sort of thing. Humans really don’t think these things through.

Miss Polly immediately blamed Mr Buster.

Mr Buster blamed Mr Bully.

Mr Bully looked offended that anyone would even suggest such a thing.

After Mandy cleaned that up, we headed out for our morning walk. I think we collectively decided to test her dedication because every single one of us suddenly needed a poo.

Honestly, I thought she might run out of poo bags.

Miss Polly went.

Mr Buster went.

Mr Bully went.

By the end of the walk, Mandy looked like she’d completed some sort of endurance event. But to be fair to her, she did brilliantly. She let us wander where we wanted, sniff every blade of grass, investigate every interesting smell, and followed behind picking up after us all without a single complaint.

Well… not one that we listened to anyway.

Right then, we’re off for a snooze before this afternoon’s adventures.

See you later, Mandy.

Bring extra poo bags.

Morning, humans!

It was a much quieter morning today. We soon realised that Mandy was completely ignoring all our barking, shouting and general complaints, so frankly, what was the point?

Instead, we behaved ourselves. We went for a lovely morning walk and, if I do say so myself, we never put a paw out of line. We all did our business like respectable little citizens, then headed home.

To make matters even better, she gave us a treat afterwards. Clearly, good behaviour has its advantages… although I wouldn’t get used to it if I were her.

Now we’re looking forward to this afternoon and seeing what adventures await. Hopefully there will be more treats involved.

Until then,

🐾 Morning Patrol Report 🐾

Mum was ready and waiting for Mandy at the door this morning, and Mr. Oreo and I were waiting like perfect angels.

The weather was lovely, just a little breezy, and we set off on our patrol. Strangely, both of us were in full stealth mode today. No fuss, no drama, no commentary... which is probably suspicious in itself.

The neighbourhood remained secure, no problems arose, and we returned home having completed another successful mission.

Miss LunaHead of Security

"For once, I have very little to add. It was a peaceful walk, conducted with dignity and excellent behaviour. Quite refreshing, really."
