At last we had some rain!! Enough to fill the water butt!

I don’t know if anyone else’s dog has been doing this all summer but the dry grass in the house just seems constant!

I feel so sorry for our 'paw' dogs in this heat and it still infuriates me that people were walking their dogs in the peak of the heat yesterday. We need doggy police to educate the owners - don't forget that a dog never died from missing a walk but they do die from heat stroke.

If you are unsure if it is safe to walk in this heat then put a thick winter jacket on and then walk barefoot on the concrete to see if you can stand it?

Anyway, enough of me ranting, there are lots of enrichment activities that dogs can do on hot and rainy days.

Minimize their time outside in the heat but have lots of water sources at bay. Paddling pools are great as are putting their treats in a bowl of water. In the house, hide the treat, puzzle games work well as well as playing with their favorite toys

I am in the process of making packs of enrichment cards to give more ideas. More to follow on these in coming posts
