It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the temporary closure of my rabbitry.
Unfortunately, over the past week, I have suffered the heartbreaking loss of two litters in very quick succession. All of my beautiful fawn babies have sadly passed away, along with their mum, Roo. 💔
Roo was fully vaccinated with both Nobivac and Yurvac, and I am incredibly relieved to say that all of my adult rabbits are also fully vaccinated with both vaccines.
At this stage, I cannot say with absolute certainty that I am dealing with RHVD, but the sudden losses and rapid progression, with little to no warning, have raised serious concerns that this may be what I am facing.
As much as it breaks my heart, the only responsible decision I can make right now is to close my rabbitry for a minimum of four months, in line with the lockdown guidance, while I take this time to protect the rabbits in my care and consider the future.
During this period, the page will be very quiet, and I will not be responding to bunny enquiries. I kindly ask that you respect this decision and allow me the time and space I need.
I am also deeply undecided about whether I will reopen once we are safely through this period. That decision will depend on how things develop and, ultimately, on the impact of this truly devastating disease.
Those who know me know how much my rabbits mean to me. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time, and for now, my priority has to be the welfare of the rabbits and doing everything I can to keep them safe.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my Lincolnshire Lops, followed our journey, and welcomed one of my babies into your home. Your understanding and kindness during this time mean more than you know.
For now, I need to take a step back and hope for better days ahead. 💔
