🏠 We are full on busy at WitchyC***s this half term. We have finished pulling our new house apart, and its full speed ahead now to put it back together so that we can move in. Whilst stripping walls we came across this soldier wallpaper underneath the wood chip..
Memories! We sent this photo to the previous owners who shared fond memories of their house with us.
This couple bought the house in the early 50's and over the years they raised 4 children there.. 3 boys and 1 girl. This wallpaper was in the boys room. The daughter had a smaller room at the back of the house.. soon to be Chloe's room. We met 2 of the children, now grown up and a similar age to us and they shared photo's and lovely memories with us. Their family was only the 2nd owner of the house. They told us about their parents. Dad worked for Leyland Motors and these houses were built for the workers. He was a good handyman, as we found out whilst trying to remove the built in wardrobes which fought back 🤣
Mum loved her garden and they had a summer house. We also plan to put our summer house in the same spot! She also loved cats and the garden is full of Nepeta. The garden and house is full of little 'good luck' tokens and I wonder if she may have had a little witch in her! 😀 We have spotted Robins, Frogs and Squirrels in the garden 🙂
Mum and Dad have now passed away, and the children talked of the happy childhood that they had there. Its that same warm energy that drew us to the house when we first viewed it! Stories and memories like this are precious. It is what makes a house a 'Home'.. not only for the children that grew up there, but also for our family knowing a little about the house and the people who lived in it before us.
We will be keeping mums trinkets that she hung on the tree in the garden. Her pixie will stay on the door, and her much loved coffee table will take pride of place in the lounge. We can make this house our home and still keep the past memories alive! There is such a lovely energy here, and it really does feel as though this house was meant for us.
So please bear with us whilst we are busy busy, and apologies in advance if we cant reply to messages as quick during this time.. we will keep you updated on progress 😄
