A guest couldn’t make their appointment earlier today and asked it it could be used by a rescue dog.

Enter Poppy. She a young mixed breed and was rescued by Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue and adopted by local folks who have three other rescue dogs.

She wasted no time whizzing around the field, jumping through the long grass and sniffing to her hearts content. Life is now very very good for Poppy. 🥰🐾

Blind Labrador puppy Ivy was back on the field this evening thanks to a kind donation from anon. She’s currently in foster care through Labrador Rescue North West and what a lucky girl she is.

All this space to experience freedom from the lead. And space to sniff, explore, run and play. It’s just beautiful to see and melts my heart ❤️

We could all learn a little from Ivy. Don’t let anything hold you back and enjoy every moment of happiness.

A quick update on the standing water on the last part of the track. 💦

I’m working to get a proper drainage solution in place as soon as possible. There are a number of people involved, so it’s taking time to get everything agreed and moving forward. In the meantime, please drive slowly and take care through this section.

I’ll also probably leave the grass a little longer over winter, as it’s too wet to cut at the moment. Leaving it longer should also help protect the field over the winter months.

I’ve got lots of donations for appointments which I always work through in date order. But for some reason at the moment a lot of people are contacting me at short notice to tell me they can’t make their appointment and could I get a rescue on the field.

Yesterday it happened again so Bobby took the space which he adored. He’s 14 and was adopted from Rochdale Dog Rescue and can’t be let off lead as he’s such an adventurer. So here he is using the appointment to have a ball.

Thanks to another generous donation from Teresa Holding, rescue German Shepherd Sophie enjoyed some lovely time at the field today.

Sophie’s story is a sad one. Her previous owner sadly passed away unexpectedly and her husband had to move into a care home, leaving Sophie needing a new rescue chapter in her life. She’ll be 10 in December.

Today though, was all about enjoying herself. She had a wonderful time off lead, exploring everything the field has to offer:

Nearly four acres of freedom. Plenty of equipment to try out. The long grassy enrichment area. Peace, quiet and space to be a dog.

A guest contacted me on Friday to say they couldn’t make their appointment at the field on Saturday morning and asked if a rescue could make use of the space. Yes, yes, of course.

Who remembers Rochdale Dog Rescue’s River pups from a couple of years ago?

Dumped in the River Ribble at just nine weeks old, three tiny pups were found on the bank wet, muddy, starving and close to death. 💔

Fast forward to today and look at Florence. She was the smallest and closest to death of the three. Now she’s magnificent, the fastest and gentlest girl you could ever hope to meet and absolutely loving life.

Incredibly, she still loves water and splashing about in it. The Ditch of Doom hasn’t made an appearance at the field yet but Florence didn’t care and had the time of her life running at approximately 40mph. 😳😂

From a tiny pup fighting for survival to this beautiful girl living her very best life. This is what rescue is all about.

Thanks to a lovely donation from anon Poppy got some fabulous field time yesterday.

At five months old she was recently rescued from Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue to join three other rescue dogs by her fantastic adopters.

She’s a gutsy little girl and tried to keep up with her pack like a champ and had an absolute ball at the field running around with the freedom of no lead.

Yesterday two lovely guests got in touch to say they couldn’t make their appointments today. And both asked if any rescues could make use of them instead. A few messages later and both appointments were filled.
First up was 14 year old Bobby from Rochdale Dog Rescue, who took his role as Chief Field Inspector very seriously. Every inch of the field needed investigating to make sure it met his exacting standards. I’m pleased to report it passed inspection. 😂

Then came young Bo, recently adopted from Labrador Rescue North West, who spent her time trying out the equipment and having the time of her life, just pure young Labrador joy.

Her adopter told me:

Bo is settling in well and has found her place on the settee. She doesn't like rain. She loves tennis balls and water, recall seems ok, but needs a little work on the lead.

A huge thank you to both guests for being so thoughtful and giving me the opportunity to donate these appointments to rescue dogs. It’s such a lovely thing to do and you’re both wonderful. 🐾🥰

Thanks to yet another amazingly kind donation from Teresa Holding handsome ex racing greyhound Barney was on the field yesterday.

It was quite windy and wet, but it didn’t stop him or the volunteer from making the most of it. Barney explored, sniffed and watched his new world with utter fascination.

He stayed close to his volunteer for the duration of the appointment as was a little bit worried about the huge space he found himself in. He just needs plenty of reassurance and once he finds his forever home will likely gain more confidence.

He’s available to adopt through Rochdale Dog Rescue. If you can’t adopt him please share to find this gentle soul his new home 🐾🥰

Brace yourselves. Blind puppy Ivy will melt your heart. She was on the field yesterday thanks to another wonderful donation from Teresa Holding. She’s currently under assessment in foster with Labrador Rescue North West and is not available for adoption.

Her fosterer told me:

“Ivy is a beautiful 12 week old Labrador Retriever. Ivy is blind and there are some neurological issues that are currently being investigated. So the kind donated session gave Ivy the opportunity to explore whilst burning off some puppy energy in the safety of the secure field. She had a good sniff and had some puppy prances as well as doing her toilet business and didn't let the rain spoil her fun x”

I did warn you she’d melt your heart ❤️ 🥰🐾
