We are open this morning for our usual Saturday morning surgery but will be closing at the earlier time of 🔴 12:00 🔴 due to road closures

As usual we will be providing our on call emergency service for the rest of the weekend. Please be aware of rolling road closures and keep this service for urgent cases and emergencies as our vets will take a little longer to travel in the area than normal

You may be given an authorised case number in which we need in order to send off samples.

Please be assured we are always available should anyone need support or advice

Symptoms are worse in sheep 🐑 compared to cows 🐄 and can be variable from anywhere between sudden death, lethargy, swelling and ulcers to name a few.

When a flea infestation gets this bad, it can cause much more than just itching. Fleas can lead to sore, irritated skin, flea allergy dermatitis, hair loss and secondary skin infections. In severe infestations, they can even cause anaemia, particularly in young, elderly or vulnerable pets.

Whatever you are in the world, be kind. ❤️

We are so fortunate to be able to offer opportunities to young people in our area and to help them develop their skills and careers.

We currently have three apprentices working towards their nurse veterinary qualifications — a three-year course involving a huge amount of hard work and study! — as well as animal care assistants gaining valuable experience.

So please be patient and kind with our staff as they learn, train and build their confidence. 🐾

We all had to start somewhere! 💚

A little kindness and encouragement can make such a difference to someone who is learning.

Turns out being the vet’s dog doesn’t stop you making terrible life choices… 🤦‍♀️🐶

This is Elvis. He already knows the drill—his mum (the vet) gives him eye drops that make him throw up whenever he decides to eat something he shouldn’t… and yet he still thought 2 bags of chocolate buttons was a good idea. 🍫🙈

Thankfully he was sorted straight away and is absolutely fine. Safe to say Elvis still hasn’t learned his lesson! 😂🐾

🌾 Grass Seed Season is Here! 🐶🐱

At this time of year, we see more pets with painful grass seeds lodged in their paws, ears, eyes and coats.

🌿 Living in such a beautiful rural area means plenty of adventures, but it also means grass seeds are something to watch out for at this time of year.

These tiny seeds can quickly work their way under the skin, causing pain, swelling and infection.

✅ Help protect your pet by:
• Checking paws, ears and coats after every walk.
• Keeping fur around paws and ears trimmed.
• Avoiding long, dry grass where possible.
• Contacting us if your pet is suddenly shaking their head, licking a paw excessively, limping or has a swollen, sore area.

📞 If you think your pet may have a grass seed, give us a call – the sooner it’s found, the easier it is to remove.
