Our next Puppy Party will be held on Tuesday 7th July, 6-7pm at the practice 📆

There is a small fee of £5 per puppy, which is non-refundable, and will be taken upon booking to secure your place 💰

Please contact us if you’re interested in attending, and we can book your puppy on 🐶😀

The puppy party will include;

🪰⚠️ Flystrike ⚠️🪰

Flystrike is a life-threatening condition that can affect rabbits, especially during warmer months ☀️

It happens when flies lay eggs on a rabbit's skin or fur, usually where it is soiled or damp. These eggs hatch into maggots very quickly and can cause severe damage in a short space of time 🐇

Early signs to watch for:
👀 Sudden restlessness or unusual behaviour
👀 Strong, unpleasant smell
👀 Damp or dirty fur around the rear end
👀 Flies gathering around your rabbit
👀 Lethargy or hiding more than usual

Flystrike can progress extremely quickly, so it's always an emergency 🚨

Prevention is key:
🐰 Keep your rabbit clean and dry
🐰 Ensure a healthy, high-fibre diet to reduce messy droppings
🐰 Check your rabbit at least twice daily
🐰 Use vet-recommended fly protection during warmer months

Veterinary Nurses also 🩺Sterilise and Pack Surgical Kits🩺

✨It’s important all surgical kits are cleaned, sterilised and packed appropriately
✨The surgical instruments are initially scrubbed in disinfectant to get any debris off
✨The are then soaked in an enzymatic instrument cleaner
✨Before being dried and packaged up
✨Once packaged and labelled they go through a piece of equipment called an autoclave which sterilises them
✨They are now clean and sterile, ready for the next operation

✨Assessing vital signs; heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature
✨Monitoring their pain levels
✨Assessing their consciousness level
✨Ensuring patients are comfortable on recovery
✨Once the patient is awake and around fully they are offered water, and food if consent is given by the owner to do so
