Hello everybody, I’m back off my annual leave.

All messages have now been replied to.
I do NOT have anymore space for September. I am back at uni in two weeks.

Please book asap if you need an October space, as my son starts school on Friday, I will need to now be off during half terms as I don’t fancy sending him into holiday clubs as he deserves a break too, but he has 2 weeks off for half term as opposed to the usual 1 week, in October so availability is very limited for October.

Also please get your Christmas grooms booked in, in advance if possible to avoid disappointment.

I don’t take on anymore large ‘difficult’ dogs anymore due to my 💩 health but, I did do an assessment on my friends parents dog, who were convinced he needed to be sedated (so did the vet) as he’s never been groomed before and was very nervous with any grooming at home and showed his teeth.

I was able to show them he just needed time and what his triggers were and he let me remove all of his matting, no teeth showing, no growling, no fear (the reason he was baring teeth because it hurt to brush it)

I’ve been thanked with 8 Lucozades (because I don’t drink anymore 😂) and a lovely card 🖤

Always happy to be able to help a dog and one less sedated dog with a more positive relationship with grooming is all I do it for, not for the perfect pristine haircut, but to be able to help the troubled ones, will always make me happy 🥰

Hopefully one day I’ll make a miraculous recovery and be able to offer help to more people again but until then my regulars will do 😅

Tomorrow’s appointments have been rearranged due to the heat.

It is a nightmare I know but it’s more of a nightmare for me and my bank account and schedule 😩

I am sick of these heat waves, but I won’t risk any form of heat stroke or heat exhaustion for my clients. It isn’t worth it. A wash can wait.

I am on annual leave from Saturday, messages will be replied to as and when I can. But as you all know I do this, and a full time uni degree too so I am going to enjoy my well deserved week off and some peace (by peace I mean decorating my sons bedroom 😂)

I have seen plenty of people trying to defend why they’ve walked their dogs in this heat.
I am going to give you a quick run down of what heatstroke really is, how quickly it happens, why it happens in dogs and why people are so passionate about it.. please read and share as you may save a dogs life.

What is heatstroke in dogs? 🌡️
- heatstroke occurs due to dogs being unable to regulate their body heat the way us humans do, dogs rely mainly on panting to regulate their temperature, when that is not enough to cool down, their organs start to SHUT DOWN.

- dogs only have a few sweat glands on their PAW PADS!!! (The paw pads some owners are walking on tarmac, tarmac absorbs heat by the way!!)

- when the air around them is too humid, and panting is not enough, that is when the organs will begin to shut down.

- Puppies/young dogs and senior dogs, or any dog with a medical issue that may effect this, have even less tolerance to the heat.

Once their body crosses 39.4 degrees that is when it becomes a medical emergency.

No dog has ever died from missing a walk, but on days like today, your dog could certainly die from going on one.

The point of my post is, don’t be thick, keep your dogs inside, plenty of fresh water available, keep exercising to a minimum indoors. If you have a high energy dog (spaniels etc) make sure to give them some puzzles/frozen kongs etc. you’ll manage to survive your dog acting like a bit of a tit indoors until the temperature has cooled down in 2 days, there is no excuses.

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone will be educated from this post and make better decisions today and tomorrow regarding walking their dogs.

All Thursdays appointments have been cancelled and rearranged due to the weather. I will be keeping an eye on the forecast for Friday, I will message Fridays clients if these appointments need to be moved for the dogs safety in a day or two.

Keep yourselves safe over the next few days and please do not walk the dogs 🐾

Please be aware due to the upcoming heatwave next week, appointments may need to be moved.

I will not groom your dogs in unsafe temperatures, it is also not safe for myself with one of my medical conditions and can make me poorly too, which I do not have time for

I will be keeping an eye on the forecast and I will be in touch if your appointment needs to be moved.
