Today I have made Pickle a new home. I bought a bigger cage that I could be filled full of mystery, toys, hiding treats. Lots of running and climbing to keep her busy and a wheel, BUT. She has already made me panic twice. No she is not interested in running in it but trying to run on the top of it.
The best bit of the whole move is that I have put a wooden ladder up to the front door so now she climbs up and sits looking at me. Going to try and teach her to come across to me via tunnel. That way I don't have to chase her round the cage when I need to feed her. LoL.

Well I don't know what is going on with Pickle. She has lost weight yet again despite been fed with Critical care 3/4 times a day. Mostly 12ml a feed. Plenty of water. She has dropped to 167 again. Plus I have seen her nibbling her food and hay.
I don't know if she is meant to be a slim girl rather than a little chunky like her hopefully future friends are. I know the warm weather isn't a big help and puts you off eaten but surely she shouldn't drop weight like that. Maybe I am just being a panic-ess and over reacting. Love her to bits but she drives me crazy with the weight droping.

I am so happy today. Pickle has gained weight at long last. She is now 172grms today. YIPPEE. The four feeds every day have paid off.
She is still a mini degu but hopefully she will be a lot more chunky degu size .Not too chunky though. Her wounds are healing but have became a little itchy so she scratches a bit. I want to give her a sand bath but just holding off for a couple more days so there are no open wounds . We have grown so close and she is so cheeky. She now feels confident enough to nip me when she has had enough food. LOL. I have taken her out of the hospital cage for a run in her hamster cage . Yes I know the cage is not big enough for a degu but it is only while she is healing. She feels safe and comfortable and that's what she needs for now. Ofcourse she will go in the pen for a big run but for now we are taking things slowly to make her happy and well again. I will send some pictures later so you can see how well she is doing. So happy and relieved she is getting better.

I am sat in the vets where Pickle is been examined as soon as the vet has finished the operation he is doing.
I couldn't help but cry when they handed me back the carrier that Greg had been in before she passed away. I am sitting here waiting to hear on Pickles condition and trying not to let the fear of losing another baby take over and make me cry again.

As many of you know that Pickle is not doing so well. I have been syringe feeding her four to five times a day as she will only take 6ml at a time. I am also giving her fluids too. She has started to eat tiny amounts of food and hay which is great but not enough to keep her at a good weight level. She has put on 2grms which is not very much but I am grateful for any improvements. I have tried to book her in the vets but they are full at the moment. I have to ring back at 8am tomorrow to see if they have a cancellation and if not again at 12pm to try again. I need to get her checked to know what problems are and how to deal with them. I am so worried about how tiny she is and why she doesn't eat much. I know it can be a 100 different reasons but I need to know so I can help her get better and have a happy life with me. The picture below is how I long to see her looking again.I don't care how much I have to fight for her or go without myself in order to get her more Critical Care and vet trips if needed. She is my priority until she gets well again.

Update On PICKLE.

Yesterday was a hard battle with Pickle to get her to eat and drink. I knew if I didn't get fluids and Critical Care into her she was possibly not going to pull through. It took me over about hour and a half to get her to eat her first meal of Critical care.I had to wrap her up in a t.towl so she couldn't wriggle her way out . She took about 6ml of emeraid and 1ml of water. She was not happy and decided to nip me hard to let me know she was annoyed. Later that evening I gave her another feed before I went to bed and she ate another 6ml of food and 1ml of water which she took more easily than the first time.

I have took her out of the big cage and put her back in the hospital cage where she seems more settled and happier. She seemed a lot more happy in herself and even came to the side of the cage to let me stroke her for a moment or two. Hopefully she will eat and drink more each feed and start to feel much better. I have a vet visit planned for Thursday just to get her checked out to see what issues she has that we can sort and get her well again. Keep fighting with me little girl.

Hi, well it seems I am the big bad cruel horrible lady. According to Whimsley and Bubble. They would not come anywhere near me and I received the devel look from both of them as if to say. " DO NOT COME NEAR US, DO NOT TRY TO BRIBE US WITH TREATS, WE ARE NOT FRIENDS ANYMORE. ! " They watched my every move, stuck their nose up or walked away ( well ran) when I offered them treats in hope of forgiveness but NO.
I accidently knocked the nut tub over and Straight away I saw a flash of degu come running to the cage door holding their paws out through the bars. Such a loving look of hope and their faces telling me, "We love you really mam, sorry. But if you give us a nut each we will be your best friends."
Who could resist such cuteness and not give in. LOL.

I am very worried about Pickle. She has lost some weight over the weekend and is not a happy girl. She sleeps most of the time and her skinnyness makes me cry. She is not eating for herself and I've not seen her drink. I have given her some Critical care food but she is not to happy about it. Not sure if she has ever been syringe feed but I think she is starting to like it which is a good sign I hope. I have taken her out of the big cage and put her in the hospital cage so I can keep a closer eye on her without having to chase her around the cage to feed her. She has only taken 8ml all day so going to try again soon to see if she will have more. I'm afraid it's a case of a little and often as I don't think she has ever eaten a normal diet like other degus do as she is so small and dante.
I plan to get her into the vets as soon as I can to find out what is wrong. After losing Greg not long ago I am so scared I will lose her too.

I really can't belive myself. Getting some Emeraid Critical care ready to give Pickle to make sure she is eating enough and getting her weight up a bit. So what did I do?? Picked the packet up, not watching what I was doing and tipped it all over the floor. So annoyed with myself. Now I have to find money for some more. Am I allowed to kick my own arse.?
