Stray dog found!

A member of the public has handed a French Bulldog into us today, but unfortunately he wasn’t wearing a collar and his microchip is unregistered.

If you know of anyone missing a Frenchie please let us know; the dog warden has been notified and will collect the little one later today to keep him safe in the mean time.

A little extra help bringing kittens into the world🐾

A few weeks ago, we welcomed a gorgeous cat in for an emergency Caesarean section (C-section) after it became clear that she needed some extra help delivering her kittens safely. The team at Leicester Animal Rescue were quick to notice that Cherry was struggling so we got her the help she needed fast.

Our veterinary team worked quickly and carefully to support mum and her babies throughout the procedure. We’re delighted to say that mum and her kittens are doing well and receiving lots of love and care. Although Cherry wasn't quite cut out for being a mum, all five kittens are safely with their foster mum's (Pea and Luna) and growing as they should.

A C-section can sometimes be necessary when a cat is struggling to give birth naturally, and prompt veterinary attention can make all the difference for both mum and her kittens; fortunately everyone made a speedy recovery and Cherry was shovelling food down not even 15 minutes after waking up!

We’re so pleased to see this little family safe, settled and thriving - Leicester Animal Rescue have done an amazing job weighing the kittens regularly to make sure they are gaining weight properly, now they just need some loving homes 🥰

We have some exciting news!

We are pleased to announce that we have a new vet starting with us - Fin is a new graduate and is looking forward to jumping in to life in practice.

Fin has been coming to Oadby for a few years now on placement for her veterinary surgery degree and the team loved having her around so much we decided we wanted to keep her.

Finlay has two cats (Nash and Sprocket), a rescue tortoise (Flash) and some fish as well - I think it’s fair to say she is in the right job…

She will be getting used to the workload, systems and daily running of things and will slowly start taking consults to build up confidence in her ever-expanding knowledge but we can’t wait to see how she grows as a vet under Gillian’s guidance and support 😊

Welcome to the team Fin 🩺🐾

CELEBRATE OUR SERVICE DOGS! 🐾✨

September is service dog awareness month and we wanted to show case a few of the amazing dogs that we have the pleasure of seeing here at Oadby.

Carlo is a guide dog and Juno and Orion are hearing dogs. Service dogs play an incredibly important role in supporting the people they work and live along side. Not only are they a lifeline to some people by helping them navigate the world but they’re also family.

These incredible dogs have an important job to do: helping to keep their people safe, independent and connected to the world around them. But when the harness comes off and the working day is over, they’re also much-loved members of the family. Their dedication, loyalty and natural instinct to look after their person never truly switches off and that special bond is something to celebrate.

All of our owners love their dogs so much and how can you blame them with how gorgeous and loyal they are?

Remember - service dogs aren’t just pets, they’re working animals with an important job to do and we should respect that by allowing them to do their jobs correctly and safely.

Rolo has been a long standing client with us over the years and came in for his librela injection and booster with his dad.

It’s so strange seeing dogs go from pups to old men with grey around their face, but he still acts like he’s a young lad jumping under consult tables and barking and whining when he’s not given enough fuss.

Can’t wait to see this distinguished gentleman again next month 🥰🐾

Nala was clearly ravenous after her spay surgery with us yesterday. Our student nurse Ella had a great time giving her love and lick-e-lix but I think she got a bit too excited, judging by the mucky face 😅🥰

We were fortunate enough to have Amy out for a CPD day! Amy is a nurse that our staff have worked with many times over the years, we loved having her in clinic to teach us about ultrasound techniques.

Beau and Shark were in as “live models” demonstrating different positions for scanning and being bribed with treats and ear scratches.

Our eager student vets and nurses were all getting at hand at the ultrasound techniques themselves, while learning how to handle patients and showed a great understanding of both by the end!

The team had a fantastic day and learned so much to help with our ultrasound knowledge that we will be able to put to use going forward.
