A little update from The Ritz Canine 🐾

To help everything run as smoothly as possible, I’ve highlighted some of my boarding terms and policies for all clients, both new and existing.

Caring for dogs is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I take enormous pride in the standard of care I provide. Every day is carefully planned around the dogs staying with me, so clear communication and honesty are essential to ensure each dog receives the time, routine and attention they deserve.

Most of my wonderful clients already do these things without even thinking, and I’m so grateful for your continued trust and support. These policies are simply there to ensure consistency, protect the high standards I strive for, and help make every stay a happy one for both you and your dog.

Thank you, as always for choosing The Ritz Canine. It truly means the world to me and I am so grateful to be able to enjoy your wonderful dogs whilst in my care 🤍

Due to a multiple dog household cancellation, I now have availability 30th May - 11th June

I will try and go through as many messages as I can from people who requested boarding within those dates, but please message me if you’re still wanting any of those days.

It will be done on a first come first serve basis due to the time of year as I am now extremely limited on dates until September the 19th

☀️ Afternoon all of you! I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful weather ☀️

Just a reminder, that during hot spells like this, I will NOT walk dogs during the day. Dogs will be walked early hours of the morning and later in the evening when temps are lower 🌡️

Please do not ask me to make exceptions for your dog, the answer will be no. That’s not me being awkward - that is me putting your dog’s health first. I specifically get up around 4:30/5am to toilet dogs and then get everyone walked and will walk again from 7/8pm depending on the heat. I would rather get up early and ensure both your dogs and my own are exercised safely than ever risk taking them out in this heat when it’s totally avoidable.

During the day, dogs will still be let out to toilet as often as they like and I ensure they do not get bored throughout the day with things such as enrichment toys, calm play and plenty of fuss as always 💓

I have a separate room also, near the front of the house, that stays exceptionally cool for any dogs who really struggle due to age/breed/health conditions and will move them into there for some down time if they are showing signs of discomfort.

If you are planning on heading out in the sun this weekend, please leave your dogs at home and inside - I promise you they’re much happier and safer there than they are out in this heat. No dog ever lost its life from missing a walk or having to wait a few more hours but this heat can be lethal to them.

Enjoy the stunning weather and keep those precious paws safe ❤️

I’m incredibly mindful when it comes to children and dogs, even with my own dogs, who I’ve raised from just a few weeks old. Safety, comfort, and respect always come first in my home.

I believe it’s just as important to teach children how to behave around dogs as it is to ensure dogs are comfortable and respectful around children. My little boy has been around dogs since the day he was born, and he’s being brought up to understand boundaries, space, and gentle behaviour.

That said, not every dog is suited to being around children and that is absolutely okay. Some dogs are higher energy, and others simply prefer a child-free environment. I never force interactions, and I carefully assess each dog to make sure they are only introduced if it’s appropriate and safe to do so.

For example, when calm and comfortable dogs like Buddy the lab come to stay, it’s so lovely to see them co-exist under my close supervision. Buddy is incredibly gentle and respectful of Oakley’s space, and Oakley is learning to mirror that calm, respectful behaviour in return. It’s absolutely lovely to see how happy it makes him just having a dog around him without feeling the need to force himself into their space.

The most important thing I ask from owners is honesty. If your dog has any behavioural quirks, concerns, or preferences, please just let me know. I will never turn a dog away for this, it simply allows me to make the right decisions to ensure your dog feels safe, happy, and properly catered for during their stay with me which is my highest priority ❤️

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine! ☀️

I just wanted to kindly ask that if you’re running late, early, or if plans change, please do let me know as soon as you can.

I carefully plan each day to make sure all the dogs get the right balance of walks, rest, and feeding times. Their routine is structured so they’re exercised safely around meals, and so each dog gets the attention and enrichment they need.

With the warmer weather arriving, this becomes even more important as certain breeds, particularly those more prone to heat sensitivity, need to be walked at specific times of the day to reduce the risk of heatstroke. I schedule walks accordingly to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Even small changes to drop-off or collection times can have a knock-on effect, so having a heads-up really helps me keep everything running smoothly and, most importantly, safely for the dogs.

I completely understand that things don’t always go to plan, and I really appreciate you keeping me in the loop when they don’t.

Thank you so much 💛
