🍂 As the days grow shorter, many of our walks will be in low light. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep both you and your dog safe.

Choose well-lit routes where possible, wear reflective clothing, and make sure your dog is easy to spot with a reflective or LED collar, harness or lead. It's also worth carrying a torch to help you see uneven paths and stay visible to others.

A little preparation means you can enjoy your autumn adventures together, whatever the time of day.

Happy St. Roch's Day! 🐾

☀️ Seaside trips are a British institution and when the sun is out there’s often nothing better than running down a sandy beach with your dog – but please be aware that too much exertion, especially in the baking summer sun, can be harmful – even fatal.

Wherever possible, keep them in shade while the sun is at it’s hottest during the midday hours and early afternoon and make sure that your dog is well hydrated at all times.

💙 Brewster’s story is one that reminds us what dedication, teamwork, and love can achieve.

Brewster first came to Wits End as a puppy to train with Sara. Being deaf meant he experienced the world a little differently, but that never held him back.

Over the years, he returned to us for physiotherapy following a spinal injury and later a cruciate ligament repair. As he entered his senior years, arthritis became another challenge, but with outstanding care from his devoted owners, he has continued to enjoy a fantastic quality of life.

Today, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone – Brewster is 17 years old! 🥳

His journey is a wonderful example of how early training, rehabilitation, ongoing management, and a committed family can help dogs live long, happy, and active lives. We couldn’t be prouder to have been part of Brewster’s story.

🍫 Today is World Chocolate Day, but while we might enjoy a sweet treat or two, remember - chocolate is highly toxic to dogs. Even small amounts can be dangerous.

Keep chocolate (and anything containing cocoa) well out of reach of curious noses, and opt for dog-friendly snacks instead!

If you suspect your dog has eaten chocolate, contact your vet immediately.

Even short time in the sun can be dangerous for our four-legged friends. Knowing the early signs of heatstroke can save lives:

🚨 Signs to look for:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Lethargy or confusion
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Vomiting or collapse

If your dog shows any of these signs, move them to a cool area, offer small sips of water, and contact a vet immediately.

Prevention is always better than cure – stay cool, stay safe! 🐾
