If you're clipping in the heat, you might need to take a little extra care of your clippers 🥵✂️

If your clippers feel warmer than usual on hot days, don’t panic! Powerful clippers work hard, and when you’re clipping in hot weather, heat can build up faster than usual as the warmer air means there’s less temperature difference to help blades and motors naturally release heat to cool down.

Sometimes a welfare clip or shear means you cant wait so here are our tips for clipping in the heat:
✅ Keep the tension as loose as possible (over-tightening creates extra friction and more heat!)
✅ Clean air filters regularly — good airflow helps the motor breathe
✅ Use Andis Cool Care spray for an instant cooling boost for warm blades. Or swap to an extra set of cool blades (never dip blades in water)
✅ Oil the clipper head regularly too

Hot Paws Alert 🐾

Most dog owners know that pavements can get dangerously hot in summer, but don't forget that artificial grass in our gardens can heat up too, often becoming hot enough to cause discomfort or burns to sensitive paws.

Before letting your dog walk, play or lie on any outdoor surface, check the ground temperature first with this simple test ✅

🌡️Place your bare foot or the back of your hand on the surface for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.

Remember, if it's simply too hot outdoors, it's perfectly okay for your dog to miss a few walks. A few quieter days at home are far safer than risking heatstroke or burned paws. 🐶❤️

Getting your horse ready for the summer show season? ☀️🐴

If you need to clip, make sure you clip at least a week before your event! This allows time for clip lines to settle, any minor skin reactions to calm, and any clipping issues to be corrected before show day. A smooth, professional finish starts with good preparation:

✔️ Bath and rinse your horse thoroughly before clipping to remove dirt and dust
✔️ Make sure your clipper is clean and well-maintained
✔️ Use freshly sharpened blades
✔️ Apply the correct clipper oil and ensure you use the right tension
✔️ Hot cloth your horse afterwards to remove hair clippings, oil residue, and to leave the coat gleaming ✨

These simple steps can help you achieve a cleaner clip and avoid unsightly tram lines.
