Home Comforts Mobile Vets A mobile veterinary service covering areas of Leeds and Bradford, providing vaccinations, health checks, euthanasia visits and much more all in your home.
(1)

We also have our own dedicated surgical facility As experienced professionals we know that both pets and owners alike can find going to the vets a stressful experience. Home Comforts will bring the vet to your door. Our consultations are relaxed and unhurried. We can provide services including vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatments, health checks, written prescriptions, medical advice, blood testing and much more. When the difficult time comes to say goodbye to your pet, this can also be done at home to make the process as peaceful and dignified as possible. Your pet will be more comfortable in their own home yet we know from experience many vets will not offer this service. We can arrange for your pet to be cremated should you wish. The service is run by an experienced and insured veterinary surgeon with a qualified veterinary nurse. We primarily cover Armley, Birkenshaw, Birstall, Bramley, Calverley, Drighlington, Farsley, Gildersome, Pudsey and Rodley but visits may be able to be made to areas outside these postcodes depending the circumstances, especially for euthanasia services. We also have a dedicated surgical facility where we can perform a wide range of soft tissue procedures and dentals. So, whether you have an elderly pet, a cat that doesn't like their basket, if it is just more convenient to have us come to your house, or if you have a pet that requires surgery then please get in touch today! (Please be aware that as we are usually out on visits or performing surgeries we are not able to offer emergency treatment. We aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours but if you have an emergency or require immediate advice please contact Leeds Emergency Vets on 0113 2525818)

***OPINIONS WANTED PLEASE***

The HT Vista is a relatively new, non-invasive device that can be used to quickly help determine whether your dogs lump is 'cancerous' or not. It looks a bit like a supermarket barcode scanner and is held over the lump for 40 seconds before giving an immediate answer. The appointment would be carried out by our nurse Sarah and is likely to be around £50. It is portable so could also be done as a home visit for an additional cost.

If it was a 'non-cancerous' lump Sarah can give appropriate advice regarding monitoring. If the device suggested something more serious then sampling could be performed and a vet appointment booked to discuss the results.

Is this something people would be interested in (in which case please comment 'yes'), or would you want to see a vet straight away and perform more traditional aspirates (in which case please comment 'no')?

If you have any other questions or prefer to message instead, please let us know your thoughts. More information can be found at https://www.ht-vet.com

Edit to answer the popular questions: the accuracy of the machine is comparable to the aspirates we would traditionally take. For any statistically minded people (not me!) it has a 90% sensitivity and negative predictive value of 97%. This basically means that if the machine says the lump is 'non-cancerous' this is an extremely reliable answer, which is important as we do not want to just monitor a lump if it might be more serious. If it says a lump is cancerous then in the majority of cases this will be accurate, but with further testing a small number of cases would actually be non-cancerous. This would mean the dog had some further diagnostic testing done, but the outcome would be positive. At the moment it is only for lumps in dogs though, not cats

Posting so everyone knows we are still in business but we also have some exciting news....

A new vet has joined our team! You may have seen her already, but if not, Abi is looking forward to meeting you and your furry companions over the coming months.

Abi says:

"I met Emma when we went to university together in Liverpool, graduating in 2011. Since then, I've worked in a number of different small animal practices across West Yorkshire.

I'm definitely a cat lover; I completed a certificate in Feline Practice 9 years ago and have two cheeky British Shorthair cats called Ember and Clover.

I'm currently working towards a certificate in dermatology. I love all things skin and ears so if you have an itchy pet then I'm your gal! I'm also passionate about pain management, senior pet medicine, palliative and end-of-life care, and try to take a caring fear-free approach in all that I do.

In my spare time I enjoy baking and crafting with my daughter, hiking, puzzles and yoga. I'm thrilled to be part of the Home Comforts team and hope to see you soon!"

There's just 2.5 weeks until the first XL Bully neutering deadline. Any dogs that were 12 months and over on the 31st January this year have to be neutered by the 30th June. Here are just some of the dogs we have done so far ❤️

A reminder to any of our clients that have not sent off their confirmation of neutering forms yet, this also needs to be done by the 30th!
