Is there anything more satisfying than a chocka treat display? 🐶✨️

(Please ignore the wonky signs... they're causing me mild distress 😏)

I think we're just about stocked up on every chew going, including your pooch's favourites; buffalo braided rings, beef pizzles, and all the sausagey bits 🐮🦬

As always, if your dog steals a little snack from the display, it's on us 👀 (It's only fair when we've put so many temptations right at snoot height!)

📣 Opening Hours Update - Closed Monday 28th September 📣

This weekend I’ll be heading off to the PATS Show at the NEC - an annual pet industry trade show where companies and brands come together, and where us retailers get to discover new products and see what's happening in the pet world 🐶🐾

Unfortunately though, I will be attending on Sunday and Monday, which does mean the shop will be closed on Monday 🫣

To avoid as many people as possible turning up to a closed shop, I've tagged you all below. My apologies in advance to anybody this doesn't reach!

📣📣 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 📣📣

Why Does My Dog Chew Everything? 🐕 (weeps quietly at the bottom of the garden)

A small consolation: it's not spite. It's not 'getting you back' for a shorter-than-ideal belly rub. It's just... being a dog 😅🐾

We get asked about this most days, usually accompanied by another horror story about a stick, or a merino wool blanket that's been bitten to tatters ☠️

I've put together everything we tell people in the shop - the six reasons dogs actually chew (teething, boredom, stress, attention-seeking, diet, and sometimes pain), how to work out which one's yours, and what we'd actually reach for instead of another fruitless telling-off 🙅🏼‍♀️

"And then... Mahm had the audacity to make me wait while she took a photo! When there was a whole floofin cake right there under ma shnoot!" 🐶

Ralphy the birthday boy, celebrating his big day with a Life of Riley Birthday Cake (probably demolished by now 🤭) 🎂🐾

Happy Birthday to one of our sweetest gentle giants. It's always a good day when Ralphy visits - he likes to make a quick nosedive for his favourite bucket of treats, and then come over for his obligatory head rubbins' 😄🐕

📣 Weekly Raw Food Delivery Assistant – The Urban Pet Store

Location: Garforth Main Street, Leeds
Hours: Approx. 2-3 hours per week, once a week
Available from September (ideally)

We’re looking for a reliable, practical person to unpack our weekly raw food deliveries at The Urban Pet Store.

The job is simple but it does involve lots of physical work. Each week, you’ll bring our raw food delivery into the shop, unpack the boxes and organise the food into the correct freezers.

The role involves:

- Lifting and bringing inside 20+ boxes, each weighing around 12kg
- Unpacking boxes of frozen food
- Putting products neatly into the correct freezers
- Keeping the freezer area organised and tidy

The work only takes approximately 2 hours once a week, making this ideal for someone looking for a small amount of regular work alongside other commitments.

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Reliable
- Comfortable with physical work and lifting boxes
- Able to work independently
- Careful when handling stock

No previous shop experience is necessary - we’ll show you everything you need to know.

If you’re looking for a small, regular weekly job and think this could suit you, please get in touch with a little bit about yourself and your availability. There's no formal interview or CV necessary, and we will update this post once the position has been filled ☺️

Thanks!

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend! ☀️🌡🐾

If this weekend isn't the perfect excuse to eat bucket loads of ice cream, then I'm a goat 😂

We've got a freezer FULL of Scoops doggy ice cream, including our new Puppuccino Pops! 🍦

It's definitely looking too hot for any big adventures with the dogs this weekend, so I think we'll all just have to settle for some iced snackos in the garden instead 🥰🐶

Just a little reminder that we’ll be closed on Monday for the Bank Holiday!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone ☀️

⏰ Opening Hours Update! ⏰

For anyone who hasn’t spotted the signs in store yet, we have a couple of changes to our opening hours this week:

➡️ Today (Thursday): Closing at 4pm instead of 5pm
➡️ Tomorrow (Friday 15th): Closed all day

We always keep our Google opening hours up to date, so if you ever want to double-check that we’re open before making a trip, that’s the best place to look.

It's very rare that our opening hours change, so please don’t let this week put you off. It’s certainly not the norm! 🥹

Thanks so much for your understanding ❤️🐾

📹 I couldn't find a good photo to accompany this post, so here's a video of our doggy bakery instead 😂

This is something I tell people every single day, and it's so hugely important! 🐇

If you already have a rabbit, or have been thinking of adopting one into your family - do better than shoving them in a hutch 🚫

Wild rabbits can cover an area equivalent to 30 football pitches every day while grazing and playing. A study even found one underground warren spanned 517 metres and had over 150 entrances!

Make sure you provide them with sufficient space to roam, explore, binky and exercise their bouncy legs 🐰

A Hutch Is Not Enough.

Rabbits need space to run, stretch up and explore every day, with housing that supports their natural behaviours, not limits them.

A hutch can play a role, but it should always be part of a much larger, enriched living area with rabbits having constant access to at least 3m x 2m of space, 1m high, all in one continuous area. Through this campaign, we’re working with retailers, vets and owners to raise standards and improve rabbit welfare together.

Small changes can make a big difference 🧡
