💙🌞🐾 Keeping Pets Safe in Hot Weather 🐾🌞💙

As temperatures rise, it's important to help our pets stay cool and comfortable. Dogs and cats can quickly become overheated, and heatstroke can be life-threatening.

Top tips to keep your pets safe:
✅ Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water.
✅ Ensure access to shade and cool resting areas.
✅ Use cooling mats, damp towels, or frozen treats to help them cool down.
✅ Keep cats and dogs indoors during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

🐕 Dog walking advice: avoid walking dogs during the hottest part of the day (typically between 11am and 4pm). Instead, choose early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are lower.
Before heading out, try the 5-second pavement test: place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws.

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include: • Excessive panting • Drooling • Lethargy or weakness • Bright red gums • Vomiting or collapse
If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area, start cooling them with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your vet immediately.
Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly! ☀️🐶🐱

🐣 Easter Safety Reminder for Pet Owners 🐾
Easter treats are fun for us, but some can be very dangerous for our pets. Chocolate, raisins (found in hot cross buns), certain flowers and certain sweets can all be toxic to dogs and cats—even in small amounts.
Please keep these items well out of reach and remind visitors to do the same. If you think your pet may have eaten something they shouldn’t, contact us immediately.
Let’s keep Easter safe and happy for everyone 💛

Swift Emergencies and Holly House are available during our closing times.

Happy Easter 🐰🐣
