On Wednesday night, after receiving reports that two cats had been abandoned in a carrier at Roundhay Allotments, a fellow cat lover and I headed out just after midnight to investigate.

What we found was heartbreaking. Two beautiful cats, both incredibly friendly, hungry, thirsty, and clearly distressed. The fluffy one is covered in scabs, likely caused by a severe flea allergy, and both were in desperate need of care.

Thankfully, they are now safe and awaiting rescue space. Tomorrow they will be visiting the vets for health checks, treatment for the skin condition, and possible neutering for the fluffy cat.

I genuinely cannot understand how anyone could abandon their pets in this way. Not only is it terrifying and traumatic for these loving cats, but their medical and welfare needs instantly become somebody else's responsibility.

A huge thank you goes to the other cat lover, who runs a small rescue effort entirely from her own pocket, receiving no charitable funding whatsoever. She spends her time, money, and energy helping animals like these when they have nowhere else to turn. If people like her weren't willing to step in, what would happen to cats like these?

It truly breaks my heart, but I'm so grateful these two were found before it was too late. I'll be making a donation to support their care when I get paid, and I hope these lovely cats can now look forward to the safe and happy future they deserve. ❤️🐾

​Max (the ginger) is super friendly, incredibly loving, and definitely has a lot to say! Freddie (the Ragdoll) was a bit more skeptical of me being in his space and preferred to supervise everything from the safety of the stairs.

​At the cat lady Leeds, I always respect a cat's boundaries. I gave Freddie his space, never forced an interaction, and just chatted with him from afar to let him know he was safe.

​Every cat is different, and I love tailoring my care to fit their unique personalities! 🐾✨

A little update from The Cat Lady Leeds 🐱

As some of you may already know, I am potentially moving to Wakefield in August. While this is an exciting new chapter for me, I want to reassure all of my wonderful clients that The Cat Lady Leeds will continue to operate and your cats will continue to receive the same loving, reliable care you've come to expect.

To make this possible, I am looking for a trustworthy and dedicated cat sitter based in the Leeds area to join the business and take on client visits locally.

I'm looking for someone who:

🐾 Has a genuine love of cats and understands their individual personalities and needs.

🐾 Has good availability, particularly mornings, evenings and weekends.

🐾 Is able to drive.

🐾 Is happy to undergo a DBS check.

🐾 Is willing to work on a self-employed basis and manage their own tax responsibilities.

🐾 Is reliable, caring and committed to providing an excellent service.

There is plenty of ongoing work available for the right person, and I will be taking the time to ensure anyone joining the business shares the same values and standards of care that my clients know and trust.

🐾 I'm back! 🐾

After a week of sunshine, relaxation, and a frankly worrying lack of cats, The Cat Lady Leeds is officially back in business! 😸

Cat-sitting duties resume tonight with two of my lovely regulars, and next week I'll be sitting 2 brand-new feline clients too. ❤️

I may have enjoyed the holiday, but nothing beats being welcomed by a cat who either:
🐱 Can't wait to see me, or
🐱 Looks at me like I've personally ruined their day by existing.

It's good to be back doing what I love — making sure your cats are happy, comfortable, and thoroughly spoiled while you're away.

Here's to more purrs, head bumps, and being covered in cat hair once again! 🐾✨

🚨 Mallorca Update 🚨

It's been almost 5 days and I haven't seen a SINGLE cat. Not one. 😭🐱

The withdrawals have started.

I've found myself zooming in on distant bushes hoping for a stray cat. I've considered pspsps-ing at random corners. I've even caught myself missing being covered in cat hair.

Things have become so serious that I've scheduled a video call with my own cats later. I need to check they're okay... and more importantly, I need to give them a proper virtual sniff. Anyone with cats knows exactly what I mean. 🤣

Please keep me in your thoughts during this difficult, catless time.

Normal service will resume when I'm reunited with a furry friend and can once again inhale that premium cat-head scent. ❤️🐾

🐾✈️ The Cat Lady Leeds is officially clocking off for a week!

I’m swapping cat hair-covered leggings, treat crumbs in my pockets, and being judged by tiny furry supervisors… for sunshine in Mallorca 🌞🍹

For one glorious week, I’ll be hanging up my fur-covered uniform and retiring my role as:

🐾Door opener to rooms nobody wanted opening
🐾Lap servant
🐾Litter tray ninja

Don’t worry — I’ll still probably spot cats everywhere and snap pics while abroad 😹
