🎓 Another fantastic Puppy Class graduated! 🐾💕

Every one of these puppies has started building the foundations for a lifetime together with their families.

Over the last five weeks we’ve worked on:
🐾 Focus & engagement
🐾 Lead walking
🐾 Recall
🐾 Calmness & settling
🐾 Confidence around distractions
🐾 Learning how to learn

But perhaps even more importantly…

These owners now understand their puppies.

They know that training isn’t about demanding perfection—it’s about building communication, trust and teamwork.

Every puppy is different.
Every journey is different.
And every one of these families has put the work in.

I’m so proud of every single one of you. ❤️

Congratulations on graduating, and I can’t wait to see where your adventures take you next! 🎉🐶

If you’ve got a puppy and would love this kind of start, keep an eye out for the next Puppy Course—I’d love to help you build the same foundations.

🎉 Congratulations… your puppy is officially a teenager.

Remember that sweet little puppy who followed you everywhere, listened to everything you said and thought you were the centre of the universe?

Yeah… they’re gone. 😂

For a little while, at least.

Adolescence is the stage where many owners think they’ve done something wrong.

❌ Recall disappears.
❌ Lead pulling gets worse.
❌ They suddenly “forget” everything they knew.
❌ They’re distracted by absolutely everything.

Here’s the good news…

This is completely normal.

Your puppy isn’t being stubborn or trying to annoy you.

Their brain is changing. They’re becoming more independent, more curious and more interested in the world around them.

This isn’t the time to give up on training.

It’s the time to make it even more rewarding to choose you.

🩷 Keep training fun.
🩷 Be consistent.
🩷 Lower your expectations a little.
🩷 Celebrate the small wins.
🩷 Remember that progress isn’t always a straight line.

The dogs that become amazing adult companions aren’t the ones that never went through adolescence…

They’re the ones whose owners kept showing up through it.

You’ve got this. 🐾

When you wanted the perfect recall photo…

…and instead got flattened by 5 very enthusiastic dogs. 😂🐾

Worth it though.

This is one of my favourite things about recall training.

When your dog genuinely wants to come back to you, they don’t trot over because they have to…

They sprint back because they want to.

That’s the relationship I’m always trying to help owners build. 🩷

🐶 Puppy Frequently Asked Questions

“How do I socialise my puppy?”

One of the biggest myths in dog training is that socialisation means your puppy should meet every dog and every person they see.

It doesn’t.

In fact, that can create the opposite of what you’re hoping for.

Real socialisation is teaching your puppy how to feel calm, confident and safe in different environments.

It’s about learning that the world exists without needing to interact with all of it.

Instead of thinking:

❌ “My puppy needs to say hello to everyone.”

Think:

✅ “My puppy needs to learn to stay calm around everyone.”

A puppy who can walk past another dog without pulling, barking or becoming over-excited is far more socialised than one who drags you over to greet every dog they see.

If your puppy is calm…

🐾 They can earn the chance to meet someone.

🐾 They can earn the chance to say hello to another dog.

Not every person wants to greet your puppy.

Not every dog wants to be your puppy’s friend.

And that’s okay.

When they do meet other dogs, choose wisely.

Older, calm, well-mannered dogs are incredible teachers.

The local hooligan who charges around with no manners?

Probably not the role model you’re looking for.

Your puppy is always learning.

So ask yourself…

Are they learning to look to the world for excitement… or to you for guidance?

Because a puppy who learns that calmness opens doors grows into an adult dog you can take anywhere. 🩷

👇 What’s one socialisation myth you’ve heard?

Your puppy isn’t giving you a hard time…
They’re having a hard time. 🩷

It’s easy to think your puppy is being naughty when they’re biting, zooming around the house, ignoring you or struggling to settle.

But often they’re not trying to make your life difficult.

They’re overtired.
They’re overwhelmed.
They’re frustrated.
They’re still learning how to cope with a world that’s completely new to them.

Puppies aren’t born knowing how to switch off, make good choices or regulate their emotions.

That’s our job to teach.

Instead of asking…

❌ “How do I stop this behaviour?”

Try asking…

✅ “What is my puppy trying to tell me?”

Sometimes the answer isn’t more exercise.
Sometimes it isn’t stricter rules.

Sometimes your puppy simply needs:
🐾 More sleep
🐾 Less stimulation
🐾 Clear guidance
🐾 Patience
🐾 Time

The puppy stage doesn’t last forever, but the habits you build during it can last a lifetime.

Train the dog in front of you with kindness, consistency and understanding… and you’ll be amazed at the dog they become. ❤️

❤️ My Philosophy on Dog Training

When people first contact me, they often ask…

“Can you stop my dog doing…?”

Pulling.
Barking.
Jumping up.
Ignoring recall.
Reacting to other dogs.

But that’s never where I start.

Because my job isn’t simply to stop behaviours.

My job is to help you build a relationship where your dog wants to listen.

I don’t believe in frightening dogs into obedience.

I don’t believe every walk has to be military precision.

I don’t believe “being the boss” creates trust.

What I do believe is this…

🐾 Calm creates confidence.
🐾 Consistency beats perfection.
🐾 Every dog can learn.
🐾 Every owner can learn too.
🐾 Training should fit into real life—not take over it.

I want dogs that can enjoy freedom safely.

Owners who feel proud instead of frustrated.

And families who genuinely enjoy spending time together.

Because at the end of the day…

Dog training isn’t about having the perfect dog.

It’s about creating a better life for both ends of the lead. 🩷

😴 Tired Puppies Bite Harder

One of the biggest mistakes I see?

Owners trying to exercise the biting out of their puppy.

But often… the opposite is true.

An overtired puppy loses self-control, just like an overtired toddler.

That’s when they start:
🐾 Grabbing clothes
🐾 Biting hands and ankles
🐾 Zooming around the house
🐾 Ignoring everything you’ve taught them

More exercise isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes your puppy doesn’t need another walk…
They need a chance to switch off.

Build short periods of calm into the day.
Encourage rest.
Don’t feel guilty if they sleep for hours—they’re growing, learning and developing every single day.

A well-rested puppy learns better, listens better and bites far less.

💬 Has your puppy ever turned into a tiny land shark when they’re tired?

Muddy paws are often a sign of a puppy living their best life. ❤️

One of the biggest mistakes I see is owners trying to stop every bit of exploring.

Yes…
✔️ They’ll get muddy.
✔️ They’ll pick up sticks.
✔️ They’ll splash in puddles.
✔️ They’ll investigate absolutely everything.

That’s what puppies are designed to do.

Every safe new surface, smell, sound and experience is helping them learn about the world and building confidence for the future.

The goal isn’t to keep your puppy perfectly clean.

The goal is to raise a confident, resilient dog who can cope with real life.

So next time you find muddy paw prints across your kitchen floor…

Remember they’re collecting experiences, not just dirt.

A towel by the door is far easier to replace than confidence you never gave them the chance to build. 🩷

🐾 Training walks don’t have to look exciting to be incredibly successful.

No endless ball throwing.

No racing around for miles.

No constant excitement.

Just lots of checking in, sniffing, making good choices and learning how to be calm in the real world.

Many owners think a “good walk” is one that leaves their dog exhausted.

I see it differently.

A great training walk teaches your dog how to stay connected with you, make sensible choices and enjoy the world without feeling the need to chase, pull or react to everything around them.

A calm dog isn’t created by accident.

It’s created through hundreds of calm moments.

🩷 Real life. Real dogs. Real results.

Would your dog find a calm training walk harder than a long, exciting one? 👇
