We run a dedicated Dog Training Centre, offering Puppy Classes, Obedience Classes from Beginner to Advanced, Agility and Pet Gundog Classes.

Led by Davina | Calm, positive & professional training We do 121 training sessions, 121 Activity sessions (great for reactive dogs who can't be around other dogs but still needs additional stimulation). We have a dedicated Dog Shop offering a range of Raw Dog Food, Natural Treats and much much more. We periodically have workshops and events on throughout the year.

Got a new puppy? Let’s get your adventures off to the best possible start! 🐶

Those first few months are full of excitement, discoveries, challenges and, let’s face it, a little bit of chaos! 😂

Our fun, friendly and positive puppy classes are designed to help you understand your puppy, build confidence and develop the foundations for a wonderful life together.

🐾 What will we work on?

💗 Recall – making coming back worth it!

💗 Loose lead walking – starting those lovely walks together.

💗 Focus and engagement – learning to work as a team.

💗 Confidence and socialisation – helping your puppy navigate the world.

💗 Settling and calm behaviour – because learning to do nothing is a skill too!

💗 Everyday life skills – building good habits from the beginning.

And most importantly, helping you understand how your puppy thinks and learns.

Because puppy training isn’t just about teaching commands. It’s about building communication, confidence and a relationship that lasts a lifetime. ❤️

🐾💗 YOUR DOG DOESN’T NEED TO BE PERFECT!

And here’s a little secret… neither do you! 😂

Some days your dog will absolutely nail everything you’ve been working on.

Beautiful loose lead walking. Brilliant recall. Calm around distractions. You’ll be thinking, “YES! We’ve cracked it!” 🙌

And then the next day?

Apparently they’ve never heard the word recall in their entire life. 🤦‍♀️😂

Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing. Training isn’t a straight line.

Dogs have good days, bad days, exciting days and days when their brains seem to have gone on holiday!

Just like us.

What matters isn’t getting everything right every single time.

It’s building understanding, developing good habits and giving your dog the skills to make better choices.

Celebrate the little wins. Be patient with the wobbles. Keep things consistent.

And remember, progress is progress, even when it’s messy. 💗

Because at Walkabout, I’m not looking for perfect dogs.

I’m looking for happy dogs, confident owners and a better understanding between the two.

🐾 IS YOUR DOG BEING NAUGHTY… OR ARE THEY STRUGGLING? 🐾

It’s something I often ask people to think about.

Your dog isn’t listening. They’re pulling on the lead. Barking at everything. Jumping up. Completely ignoring you.

It’s easy to think they’re just being naughty!

But have you ever stopped to consider WHY they’re behaving that way?

Are they overexcited? Overwhelmed? Frustrated? Confused? Or have they simply never been taught what you’d actually like them to do instead?

Dogs don’t arrive knowing our rules. We have to teach them.

And sometimes the biggest change in your dog’s behaviour starts with a change in how YOU look at the situation.

Less frustration. More understanding. Clear guidance. Consistency.

Because good dog training isn’t just about teaching dogs.

It’s about teaching humans to understand them too. 💗🐾

A little sneak peek at our new training field… 🐾💗

Obviously the first ones to give it a proper test had to be my own lot!

Plenty of space to run, plenty of long grass to explore and, most importantly, SO many possibilities for training.

This is going to become the home of some of our 121 training, adult classes and a few other ideas I’ve got brewing… 👀

I think we’re going to be very happy here. 🥰

🐾 ON LEAD DOESN’T MEAN MISSING OUT 🐾

There can be a bit of an idea that a “proper” dog walk means letting your dog off lead and watching them disappear into the distance.

It really doesn’t.

Some dogs have fantastic recall.
Some are still learning.
Some have a high prey drive.
Some get overwhelmed.
Some simply make questionable life choices when given too much freedom. 😂

And that’s absolutely fine.

A dog on a lead or long line can still sniff, explore, investigate, socialise, engage with the environment and have a brilliant walk.

Freedom isn’t about unclipping the lead. It’s about giving the dog appropriate choices within the freedom they can safely handle.

And sometimes the cleverest decision you can make for your dog is simply to keep that lead attached.

No judgement. No rush. No comparing them to the dog twenty metres ahead.

Train the dog in front of you. ❤️🐾

🤫 SILENCE IS YOUR FRIEND 🐾

One of the most powerful things you can do when training your dog is sometimes… absolutely nothing.

We humans LOVE to talk. 😂
Sit… sit… SIT… come on… sit… good boy… no… sit…

Meanwhile, your dog is trying to work out which bit of that stream of words actually matters.

So try something different.

Stop talking.

Give your dog a moment to think. Let them use their brain and work out what you’re asking.

You can still guide them. You can show them. You can lure them if they need a little help.

But you don’t have to narrate the whole process.

Then, when they make the choice you wanted — THAT’S when your voice becomes powerful.

“Yes!”
“Good!”
“Good boy/girl!”

And you can almost see that little moment in their head…

“AHHHH! THAT’S what you wanted!” 💡🐶

Giving dogs the space to think helps them actually learn, rather than simply reacting to a constant stream of instructions.

Next time you’re training and you’re not quite sure what to do…

Say nothing. Wait. Watch. Let them think.

Silence really can be your friend. 💗🐾

🐾 PET GUNDOG SKILLS – WEEK ONE 🐾

No photos of this morning’s actual class… because apparently I was far too busy teaching to remember to take any. 😂🤦‍♀️

But what a brilliant first session it was!

A fab group of dogs and handlers starting their Pet Gundog Skills Level 1 journey, working on the foundations that will eventually give us more focus, better communication and dogs who can enjoy a bit more freedom while still listening to their humans.

After class, Axl and Boogie got to have their own bit of fun at the dog park — although judging by these photos, I think they were auditioning for the park brochure. 😂🐾

Training done.
Teaching done.
Two very happy Labradors. ❤️
