I was asked to do an interview this week on BBC radio 5. (It was too short notice,30mins! I was working so I couldn’t do it)
It has been announced this week that dog grooming has been added to the UK’s Office For Nation Statistics. Dog grooming is recognised as ‘responsible pet care and well being of your pet’.
This is truly amazing to be recognised in this way.
My trade as a qualified, skilled dog groomer is a service that many people will have in their monthly ‘shopping basket’
whilst we cuddle, play with pets our job is to groom your dog, pay attention to skin conditions, health conditions, teeth, nail and paw care etc we are an extra pair of eyes for you and it is a must cost for most breeds to have regular scheduled grooming.
Recent years have seen many more mixed breeds especially in the doodle variety and this industry has changed. The mixed coats can be challenging and take more time and care to manage. The pandemic saw more people become dog owners and the demand for dog grooming increased significantly.
Inflation affects everyone, increases in tax, energy, water and products, this too hugely affect small businesses like mine and whilst I always try to keep prices reasonable and to match my worth I too have previously had to increase my prices just to earn a wage.
I’m so pleased this is finally recognised by the ONS.
