Fido's Treat

Fido's Treat Fido's treat has been walking your dogs since 2000. Fido's Treat is a small, friendly, well established Dog Walking Service.

It has gone through many changes oner those years, but several things which have always remained consistent are its reliability, trustworthiness, quality, and care of your dogs throughout the years. Founded in 2000, it has provided the dogs of Headingley and Meanwood with a wonderfully reliable, safe but fun walk, in the company of other friendly and well socialised dogs. All in the beautiful surr

oundings of The Hollies and Meanwood Park. With only 2 walks a day (always an hour), and just a small area covered, places are limited . However, once you've made it onto the register, your place is secure and your dog can look forward to regular enjoyable, woodland walks for as long as is needed.

This little group keep me grinning from ear to ear on their walks.

I've had to edit this video down from almost an hour to just 2 minutes, to try and discourage people from rolling their eyes, and scrolling on.

Red Poppy and Autumn. Best of friends.
And Kip of course

Our second soggy walk on our first day back. I decided to keep little Red Poppy on the lead as it's been 6 weeks since I last walked her, and I wasn't sure if she'd want to head home to escape the rain. As it turned out, she seemed oblivious to the downpour, and even managed some leash playtime with Autumn, which sadly I found almost impossible to film under our circumstances.

And we're back. 🐾🐾πŸ₯‚πŸΎπŸ’œπŸΆ

My first day in almost 6 weeks, out with the pack again.
It was a shame it rained continuously for the full 3 hours, but the temperature was warm, and despite none of us wearing coats, and all of us getting drenched to the skin, we still all enjoyed ourselves.
I have to confess that I struggled getting Rocket into his wheels though, as his legs have sadly deteriorated even more, but thankfully his dad was at home to assist me.
Hopefully I'll do better next week 🀞

So this was our first walk with Autumn, Rocket, and Kip (of course)

Monday, and hopefully my last full day with my cast on 🀞.
So I only took Autumn out with Kip, and we had a fab 2 hour walk.

We are now having to change our route due to Kip's OTT reaction to a pair of huskies which also walk on our park. Thankfully though, after a helpful chat and phone number swap with their owner a few weeks ago, I now get a text when the huskies are heading to the park, and by changing our route, Kip is now kept calm, relaxed and happy πŸ‘

So today we changed it up with a figure of eight route, and Autumn was happy to bump into sone of her friends and become one with the beige pups.

Tomorrow is a day of hospital appointments, then hopefully I'll finally be back with more of the pack on Wednesday β€οΈπŸ’œ

Hopefully, I'm almost back with the pack.
I hope my cast will be removed next week, and I can get back out with those pupsters again.
In the meantime, Autumn came out with me and Kip this morning, and we had a gentle saunter in our usual location. We also bumped into Trigger, and Autumn tried her best to get a gallop out of him, but not very successfully πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Hi again.
At the weekend I was really happy when I just happened to meet little Autumn who was out for a walk with her family. We had a good catch-up chat, and when her mum happened to mention that she was struggling a little on Mondays and Fridays, it only took me a few seconds to decide that I could probably manage to walk her again on those days. Autumn is such an easy girl, and she only lives a street away, so although I'm not supposed to be returning to work for at least another 3 weeks, I reckoned 2 dogs clipped to my walking belt would be no more difficult than one.

It was such a joy to be back out with extra company again.

Thank you Autumn for behaving so perfectly.
And thanks to Kip, too. πŸ§‘πŸ§‘πŸ’œ

This morning, I received the terribly sad news that sweet old Poppy had died last night.

She was my oldest , most stoic little character, who I'd walked, along with her late brother Ash, for the best part of 14 years. The Walking wee wee twins were a constant on my walks, 4 or 5 days a week keeping me on my toes with their regular disappearing antics.

But despite their escapades, you just couldn't help loving them both.
When Ash tragically passed, Poppy finally come out of her Shell and shone more. brightly.

We've shared so many years, walkies, fun, quality time and in the last year, several sleepovers.

Her family will all miss her terribly, but they gave her the greatest life any dog could ever wish for.

Fly high now Poppy. Back to chasing heavenly hedgehogs with your brother again.

Right. Here's a bit of an unexpected post for you.
On Saturday, I had the misfortune to trip up and land heavily on my hand. This has resulted in a quite bad fracture of my arm near the wrist, and a bit of bone chipped off in my the hand. At least, that's what they appeared to be telling me.

So I'll be in plaster for the next six weeks, and apart from my own rascal sprollie dog, there'll be no working walks until I'm pot baggage free.

So in the meantime, I'll just post occasional random dog articles and memes so that you know I haven't forgotten you ###
