Those puppy dog eyes 🥺🐾
Nell might look like she’s questioning our life choices… but we promise she’s having a great time really! 😄💦
After a little break, Nell is back — and this time she’s smashing it in the underwater treadmill 👏
She’s taken to it so well, and with a bit of pâté involved… she’ll do just about anything 😅
🐾 Building strength
🐾 Boosting confidence
🐾 And enjoying every step (and snack) along the way
We’re so happy to have you back, Nell 💙

Hey everyone 👋

Time for another shameless plug in support of the amazing Helping Yorkshire Poundies 🐶💛

Next month, we’ll be taking on the Total Warrior race… and by “taking on,” we mostly mean surviving it 😅 We’re now over halfway to our £500 fundraising target, and we honestly can’t thank everyone enough who has donated so far!

Every penny raised will help provide treatment, care, and support for beautiful dogs who desperately need it. If you could spare a moment to like, share, or donate, we’d be incredibly grateful 🐾

Training update: none of us have actually started yet… and Jade attempted the monkey bars at the park this weekend and nearly ended up needing medical attention herself 😂 But it’s all worth it for the doggos! 🐕💪

🐾 Protect your puppy’s joints – you only get one chance to grow them right

When you bring home your 8–10 week old puppy, it’s important to remember… their bodies are still very much under construction.
Those cute, wobbly movements and oversized paws?
That’s because their joints aren’t fully formed yet. Their bones aren’t properly fitted together, and their joints are supported mostly by soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

⚠️ Over-exercising at this stage can do more harm than good
Excessive running, jumping, and long walks can lead to:
• Damage to developing joints
• Poor growth and joint formation
• Increased risk of injuries later in life

Things to avoid:
✖ Jumping on/off sofas or beds
✖ Long walks or hikes
✖ Slippery floors with no grip
✖ Letting them overdo it during play

A small amount of normal play is absolutely fine, but repeated high-impact activity places unnecessary stress on growing bones.

⏳ Growth first, intensity later
Once your dog is fully developed (around 12–18 months depending on breed), you’ll have a lifetime to enjoy higher-impact activities together.

💧 Where does hydrotherapy fit in?
Hydrotherapy is a fantastic way to safely introduce exercise:
✔ Non weight-bearing environment
✔ Reduced impact on developing joints
✔ Helps build strength and confidence
✔ Controlled, safe movement
At Leeds Canine Hydrotherapy, we can help your puppy stay active without compromising their development 🐶

✨ Exciting news! ✨

From June, we’ll be opening 4 evenings per week instead of 3 to help keep up with the growing demand for appointments 🙌

We know that many of our clients work full-time and can only attend during evenings or weekends, so this change means we’ll now be able to offer an additional 6–8 evening appointments every week 🎉

Thank you so much for your continued support we can’t wait to welcome even more of you! 🐾 💦

Hello everyone 👋

We’ve now had some fancy new marked parking bays added to the car park! To help create more parking spaces, our designated bays have moved from their original location.

You’ll now find our two spaces on the right-hand side, closest to the entrance 🚗

We’ll also be moving our signage over this week, hopefully making everything even clearer. Thanks everyone for your patience and support!

🐾 Hip Dysplasia & the Benefits of the Hydrotherapy

Hip dysplasia is a common condition in dogs that leads to joint instability, pain, and reduced mobility. While it cannot be reversed, it can be effectively managed with the right support.
💧 One of our most effective tools is the underwater treadmill.

Why hydrotherapy helps:
✔ Buoyancy reduces joint loading – taking weight off painful hips so movement is more comfortable
✔ Builds muscle strength – improving support and stability around the hip joint
✔ Encourages correct gait patterns – controlled movement without excessive joint strain
✔ Supports pain relief & mobility – helping dogs move with more confidence
✔ Aids weight management – reducing long-term stress on affected joints
With regular hydrotherapy, many dogs experience improved comfort, better mobility, and a higher quality of life. In some cases, it can also help slow the progression of degenerative changes by supporting strength and function around the joint.

💙 Early intervention and consistent therapy can make a significant difference for dogs diagnosed with hip dysplasia.
If your dog has been diagnosed, we’re here to help support them every step of the way.

🎾 Do you constantly throw a ball for your dog?
It might seem like the perfect exercise… but repetitive ball throwing can actually contribute to long-term injuries.
Every time your dog sprints after a fast-moving ball, their body is put under intense strain:
• Rapid acceleration and sudden stops stress muscles, joints, and tendons
• Sharp twisting and turning increase the risk of injuries (including cruciate ligament damage)
• Repeated high-impact landings put pressure on shoulders, wrists, knees, and the spine
Over time, this can lead to:
• Arthritis and joint degeneration
• Soft tissue injuries and sprains
• Muscle imbalances and fatigue
💧 There’s a better way to play!
Here at Leeds Canine Hydrotherapy, we can turn ball time into something safer and just as fun. In the water, your dog can still enjoy chasing their ball in a low-impact, non weight-bearing environment, reducing stress on joints while building strength and fitness.
✔ Less strain
✔ More control
✔ Same happy dog
