🐾 A Little Reminder From Waggy Washes 🐾

As a small business, last-minute cancellations and unpaid deposits can have a significant impact on our diary and the availability we can offer to other clients.

These policies help us manage bookings fairly and ensure we can dedicate our time and attention to every dog that stays or visits with us. 🐶💖

📌 Please take a moment to read our policy before booking. All bookings will get this send via email too.

Key points include:

🏡 Home Boarding bookings require a 50% deposit within 7 days to secure your dates.

✂️ Grooming appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at 100% of the appointment fee.

Meet Mika 💛

When Mika first came to me, she was a very nervous rescue girl. Grooming was overwhelming for her, she needed to be muzzled, and often all we could manage was a “best I can do” haircut to keep her comfortable.

Fast forward to now… and look at her 🥹

Mika has learnt to trust me. She feels safe in my setting, stays calm during her appointments, and now I’m able to gently brush and style her face — something that once would have been too stressful for her.

Progress with nervous dogs isn’t always quick, and it’s never about perfection overnight. It’s about patience, consistency, kindness, and letting them move at their own pace.

I’m so proud of how far Mika has come. 💕

For rescue dogs and anxious pups, grooming is often much more than a haircut — it’s building confidence and trust.

☀️ HOT WEATHER & DOG SAFETY ☀️

With temperatures rising, we want to remind all our lovely clients to keep your dogs safe in the heat.

❄️ Our grooming room is fully air-conditioned, so your dogs stay cool and comfortable during their appointment.

🚗 Please avoid walking your dog to appointments when it’s hot. Travel in a cool car where possible, and make sure they have water available.

Remember: Dogs never die from missing a walk — but they can die from heat stroke. It’s always safer to skip a walk on very hot days.

⚠️ Signs of heat stroke in dogs:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Lethargy, weakness or seeming confused
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Wobbling, collapsing or seizures

Heat stroke can happen quickly and is a medical emergency.

💔 Possible consequences of heat stroke:
• Organ failure (kidneys, liver, heart)
• Brain damage
• Blood clotting problems
• Permanent health issues
• Sadly, it can be fatal

🚨 What to do if you think your dog has heat stroke:
✅ Move them somewhere cool immediately
✅ Offer small amounts of cool (not ice cold) water
✅ Pour cool water over paws, tummy and body or use wet towels
✅ Use a fan if possible
✅ Contact your vet urgently — even if your dog seems to improve

If your dog arrives with fleas, there will be a £15 flea fee and/or a refusal to groom. This is because we have to deep clean and treat the salon to prevent other dogs taking fleas home 🦟

We always recommend keeping your dog up to date with flea prevention 💊🐶
