💔 Left on the road with a chain cut deep into his neck: Hicki’s unforgettable legacy…
It happened right before our eyes, just a short distance from our shelter. A car pulled over, the trunk opened, and an entire family of dogs was heartlessly abandoned in the middle of the road. Two adult dogs and four tiny puppies were suddenly running for their lives between oncoming traffic. 🚘💔
We dropped everything, rushed out to stop the cars, and managed to secure the terrified family. That’s when we noticed it: The older male—the father of the puppies—still had a heavy piece of a chain hanging around his neck. It had already cut deep into his raw flesh. ⛓️🩹
Carefully, piece by piece, we removed the chain. And to our amazement, he just stood there, completely calm, patiently enduring the pain. We named him Hicki.
What we didn't know back then: Hicki would turn out to be one of the most wonderful, gentle, and loving dogs to ever cross our paths. He loved every single living being in this world. 🐾❤️
His brave partner, Mara, was just as incredible—trusting, eager to learn, and always showing off her favorite tricks to our staff. Surrounded by so much love, their four beautiful puppies—Hasha, Henry, Hugo, and Hermes—thrived and quickly found amazing forever homes. Mara did, too! 🏡✨
An Angel Remembered 🕊️
Hicki also found a family that loved him dearly. Sadly, after a short but very serious illness, this legendary, gentle soul passed away. Our hearts still ache, but we are deeply grateful that we could rewrite the story of his life—from a painful chain on a dangerous road to a life filled with pure love. 🌈✨
We will never forget you, Hicki. Your family is safe, and your legacy lives on forever.
