Small pets, big heat risks ☀️🐰🐹
Rabbits and guinea pigs struggle in hot weather, so it’s vital to keep them cool during a heatwave.

✅ Move outdoor hutches into shaded areas or indoors
✅ Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
✅ Freeze water bottles (wrapped in cloth) for them to lie against
✅ Never leave them in direct sun or enclosed spaces without ventilation

During this UK heatwave, make sure your feline friends stay cool.
Always provide fresh water 💧
Keep them indoors during the hottest part of the day ☀️
Ensure they have access to shady, well-ventilated spots 🕶️
Never leave them in hot rooms or cars — even for a short time 🥵

🌡️ Heat Stroke in Dogs

Hot weather in the UK may not happen often, but it can be deadly for dogs. Heat stroke happens fast — even a short walk or time in a hot car can be life-threatening.

Signs to watch for:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy or collapse
⚠️ Vomiting

Keep them safe:
✅ Walk early or late, when it’s cool
✅ Provide shade & fresh water
✅ Never leave dogs in cars — even with windows open

If you suspect heat stroke, call your vet immediately — it’s an emergency.

We have been made aware of a case of rat bait poisoning in the Newbold Comyn area.

We would advise to keep your dogs on the lead while walking in the area, so you can monitor what they could be exposed to.

Rat bait poisoning can be treated and the sooner your pet sees a Vet the better the outcome can be.
Rat bait is usually contained in boxes, if loose is is most often grain based and brightly coloured.

Who to call when we are closed? 📞
If you are worried about your pet when we are closed, you can easily contact a vet on the Vidivet app and a get a personalised video response direct to your phone for advice. They will let you know if you need to be seen by Medivet Leamington 24 Hour or Willows m, Solihull. Otherwise they will give you advice on what to do until we are open again.

Medivet Leamington, our closest Emergency Vet Hospital, has just informed us that their Night Vet is unable to work tonight, and despite great effort, they have been unable to source a vet to cover last minute. Therefore any new emergencies tonight will be diverted to Medivet Thurmaston.
Alternatively, we also work with Willows Veterinary Centre in Solihull to provide our clients with Emergency Cover when we are closed, and they can be contacted on 0121 712 7070.

Our team is growing and we're hiring a Full Time Receptionist.

📅 4 days a week, Monday to Friday + a share of Saturday mornings

⏱️ 38hrs per week contract, as well as taking part in the Saturday morning rota (which is paid on top of salary) - part time applicants welcome!
⭐️ We are a living wage employer, this role is £13.45 an hour.

You’ll be working alongside our lovely team of 4 experienced vets, 4 dedicated RVNs, a VCA and 2 wonderful Receptionists to help us deliver outstanding care to our patients and their people.

🐾 About the Role:
As a Receptionist at Pear Tree Vets, you'll be key to the care our patients and clients receive. The role covers a wide variety of tasks – Supporting clients in times of need and making our patients feel welcome and calm. You will be answering calls, emails, and enquiries. Scheduling appointments and procedures, dispensing medicine and assisting with infection control. Generating and filing patient paperwork, as well as daily financials. It’s a hands-on, varied role perfect for someone who is hardworking, compassionate, and keen to grow their skills in a progressive, independent practice.

We’re looking for someone who is:
✅ Caring, reliable and a true team player
✅ Confident around animals and people
✅ Keen to support all areas of the practice
✅ Happy to work Monday to Friday (with a regular day off in the week)
and a share of Saturday mornings

It is a Dachshund which is chipped, but the details are not up to date.
