A bit of Market Research.
Do You have a dog that needs regular grooming? Then read on.
I have been working on a training course specifically aimed at owners of dogs that need regular grooming.
The idea of this course is to encourage owners to put the training in at home so that their dogs are happy and comfortable being groomed by professionals in the Parlour.
Having spent time in a grooming Parlour, I was upset by how many dogs were uncomfortable and even reactive to being groomed, the “good” ones were quite often shut down. Considering many of these dogs need grooming every 2 months or so, it would be lovely to see more dogs prepared for the lifelong commitment of being groomed.

So, I have come up with a lesson plan that would take 4 hrs.
The course would have training exercises that are adapted specifically for introducing puppies to being groomed progressively and positively. It will also be good for older dogs that are not enjoying the grooming experience. Though aimed at dogs that go to be professionally groomed in a parlour, it can benefit those who groom their dog at home.
The course will cover:
Entering the Parlour - Happy to come in and be left.
Bath - Happy to be picked up and put in the bath, Happy to jump in the bath themselves, Comfortable with water, Happy to be touched all over
Drying - Happy to be towelled, Happy with loud noises, Happy with a hair drier, Comfortable in confined spaces
Grooming - Will get on and stay on the table, Enjoy being brushed, Comfortable with the clippers.
And, for the owners, how to brush your dog properly at home to prevent matting.
This course would be run by myself and my partner who has been grooming for 20yrs, so you get the best advice and information.

(Due to high demand 11am is now full) I have added an extra course at 3pm starting on Sat. The next course starts on 5th Feb at 10am.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately classes won't be starting this week as I am struggling with Chronic fatigue syndrome and I don't feel I could give you what you deserve. Classes will be starting next Saturday 15th Jan when hopefully, I will have the energy needed for you all.
Available to book this week are:
11am Foundation Course - 6 week block giving you the foundation training every owner needs for their puppy or adult dog. £75
1.30 Loose Lead Workshop - 1 off session giving you all the training tools to encourage your dog to keep the lead slack - 15th January - £45
1.30 Recall Workshop - 1 off session teaching you and your dog the fun of a complete and enthusiastic recall. Get your dog back every time! - 22nd Jan - £45
3pm IMDT Level 1 - Only available to anyone who has done the Foundation course.
All training is held at Camelot Kennels, Kelly Bray.
