💙💛 Sunday Reset 💛💙

Before another week starts, a little reminder…

Not every week with horses needs to be about pushing for more.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop and ask yourself:

💙 Is my horse feeling comfortable and happy in their work?
💛 Am I enjoying what we’re doing together?
💙 Are the goals I’ve set still right for us?

It’s so easy to get caught up in lessons, competitions, winter plans and what everyone else is doing that we forget to check whether the horse in front of us actually needs the same thing.

A quiet hack, an easier schooling session, a few days off or simply changing the plan isn’t going backwards.

Sometimes it’s exactly what moves you forward.

New week tomorrow… but today, just check in with your horse and with yourself. 💙💛🐴

Shout out too these 2️⃣ 💙💛🤗

Neither enjoy dressage/flat work to much and their horses don’t find it particularly easy or fun either …

However both riders are persevering and the horses are starting to work softer through their backs and it’s coming … slow and steady 🤗

💙💛 Holiday Cover Training 💛💙

Always a pleasure having wee Mac while his mum is away on holiday. 🐴 ✈️

Mac has a habit of getting a little tight and tense in his schooling sessions — very true to his part Welsh breeding 😂 — so one of my jobs this week has been helping him understand how to relax a little more in his work.

We’ve been keeping things simple and going back to the basics:

💙 Encouraging softness through his back
💛 Keeping his transitions soft and correct in each pace
💙 Working on rhythm and relaxation
💛 Getting him to work with me rather than feeling like everything has to be a battle

Nothing fancy… just good, correct basics and giving him the confidence to let go a little.

We’ve also been out for a wee hack. He’s not always the most confident away from the arena, but it’s so good for him mentally and physically to get out, see a bit more of the world and have a change of scenery.

A lovely wee horse and always nice to have him back for a few days. 💙💛
