Preparing your horse for summer ☀️

Increased respiratory rate 🔥

Horses may breathe rapidly in an effort to cool themselves down in hot weather. However, excessively rapid breathing could indicate heat stress, respiratory distress or other health issues. If you notice your horse breathing heavily, move them to a cooler area immediately and consult with your vet.

We were delighted to welcome the Police Scotland horses into our Lanark practice the other week. It’s always a privilege to work alongside such impressive animals and the dedicated teams who care for them. 💙

Our vets carried out routine assessments and treatments to help keep these horses performing at their very best while supporting their ongoing health, welfare, and fitness for duty.🐴
