π FIREWORKS & ANIMAL WELFARE β PLEASE HAVE YOUR SAY! πΎ
In a couple of months, the bangs, explosions and whooshes of fireworks will start again β and for many animals, and people, that means fear, panic and distress.
There is currently a Government public consultation looking at the use of fireworks, and this is an important opportunity for us to make our voices heard.
πΆπ±π΄ If you care about the welfare of animals, PLEASE complete the consultation.
It is so important that we donβt simply complain about fireworks every November β we need to provide the Government with evidence of how the current laws affect us, our pets, livestock and our communities.
Without the Government understanding the real-life impact of fireworks, how can we expect the current laws to change?
For many animals, unpredictable fireworks can result in:
π₯ Extreme fear and panic
π₯ Escape attempts and animals going missing
π₯ Injuries caused by fleeing or destructive behaviour
π₯ Long-lasting noise phobias
π₯ Stress and anxiety that can continue long after fireworks night
π₯ Veterinary bills and medication
π₯ Damage to homes and property
And itβs not just our pets. Livestock, wildlife and people can also be seriously affected.
Many of us who work with dogs regularly see the consequences of noise fears and fireworks-related anxiety. What may be a few minutes of entertainment for one person can mean hours, days or even months of distress for an animal.
We believe there needs to be greater consideration of organised, well-publicised displays and quieter alternatives, giving owners the opportunity to prepare and protect their animals.
π’ But if we want change, we need to ACT.
Please take a few minutes to complete the Government consultation and share your own experiences and views.

The consultation closes Wednesday 7th October 2026.
Please donβt assume someone else will do it.
Your experience matters. Your voice matters. Our animals need us to speak for them. πΎβ€οΈ
π Complete the survey. Share this post. Encourage your friends, family and fellow animal owners to have their say too.
If we want the law to change, we need to show the Government why change is necessary. ππΎ
