🐾 “He HATED his harness…”

So we didn’t force it.
We conditioned it. ❤️

This dog found the harness stressful — and simply putting it on wasn’t an option.

Instead of pushing through his discomfort, we went back to basics.

✨ Harness = good things
✨ Harness appearing = choice
✨ Approaching harness = rewards
✨ Touching harness = rewards
✨ Putting it on = gradually introduced
✨ Calm behaviour = reinforced

No forcing.
No wrestling.
No “he just needs to get used to it.”

Patience, positive reinforcement and carefully planned desensitisation and counter-conditioning.

And look at him now! 🥹🐶

It's okay to revisit the basics with your dog during adolescence. 🐾

As your puppy grows, their brain is developing, hormones are changing, and the world suddenly becomes much more exciting. Skills they knew well may seem to disappear—but they haven't forgotten. They just need a little extra guidance.

Going back to foundation training helps build confidence, strengthens your bond, and reminds your dog that making good choices is rewarding. Progress isn't always linear, and that's completely normal.

Be patient, stay consistent, and celebrate the small wins—they all add up. 💛

Placement matters...🙌

Most people focus on stopping the pulling. Instead, focus on rewarding where your dog is.🐾💛

Every time your dog chooses to walk calmly in the heel position beside you, mark it and reinforce with food, praise, or play.

🐾 Reward the position.
🐾 Reinforce before they pull.
🐾 Build the behaviour you want to see.

Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities arrive on four paws. 🐾💙

I'm so excited to share that Milly, founder of Stable Minds, a multi-award-winning, community-led mental health organisation based in Knutsford, Cheshire East, has approached me to train Echo her new puppy, with the exciting possibility that, in the future, Echo could become a therapy dog.

This is such a special opportunity, and I'm genuinely thrilled to begin this journey together. There's a lot of learning ahead, but seeing Echo and Milly develop the skills and confidence to potentially support others, is an incredible privilege.

Here's to new adventures, lots of training, and seeing where this path leads. 🐶✨

Super proud dog mum moment! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from the
National School Dog Alliance's "School Dog of the Year Award." 🏆🐾

My beautiful Herbie has been an amazing therapy dog for so many years, bringing comfort, calm, and countless smiles to so many children. 💙

She has a special gift for helping children relax on stressful days, brightening difficult moments, and simply being there when a child needs a little extra support. Her unconditional love, gentle nature, and wagging tail make such a difference every single day.

Watching the positive impact she has on so many children's lives fills me with so much pride. Herbie, you are truly one in a million, and I couldn't be prouder of everything you do. ❤️🐶

Here's to celebrating all the joy, comfort, and confidence you bring to others. You deserve every bit of this recognition! 🏆✨

🐾💙

Second lesson and the progress speaks for itself! 👏🐾

☆ The best way to test your heel work and loose lead walking is simple: try with out the lead on in a safe space.

Excellent heel work means your dog stays connected, focused, and in position with or without the lead.

IMPORTANT: The lead or collar should NOT be what's controlling the dog—your training and relationship should be.

This is exactly the standard I aim for every session. 💪🐶
