Happy Friday! 🐾

It's been a busy couple of weeks here, with lots of lovely visits, some of my regular feline friends, and even a new kitty to get to know. 💙

As always, I'm so grateful that you trust me to look after your babies while you're away. It really does mean a lot.

🖤 Remembering Lyra 🖤

Last week I had the pleasure of looking after Magnus while his family were away.

Sadly, this booking came under very different circumstances.

Just a week before their holiday, Magnus's sister Lyra was killed in a road traffic accident. As you can imagine, everyone was worried about how Magnus would cope being on his own after such a heartbreaking loss. 💔

I was especially saddened to hear the news because I had the pleasure of looking after Lyra several times over the last year. She was such a lovely cat, always friendly, always happy to see me, and one of those cats who was impossible not to adore. 🖤🐾

Knowing what the family had been through, and knowing how much Lyra meant to them, I wanted to make sure Magnus had plenty of company, reassurance and, of course, extra cuddles while they were away.

He was an absolute superstar all week and it was lovely to spend some one-to-one time with him. 🐱💙

Sadly, Lyra's story is also a reminder of how vulnerable cats can be around roads. Black cats in particular can be harder for drivers to spot, especially at dawn, dusk and in poor weather conditions.

So today I'm remembering beautiful Lyra, sending love to her family, and reminding everyone to take a little extra care when driving through residential areas where much-loved pets may be nearby. 🚗🐾

Sleep tight, Lyra. You were a lovely girl and will be greatly missed. 🖤

Summer is definitely on its way and lots of holiday countdowns are now underway! ☀️✈️

🌡️ HOT WEATHER CAT TIPS 🌡️

Cats are clever little things and usually good at finding the coolest spot in the house... usually somewhere inconvenient like your clean washing basket 😹

But during a heatwave, they can still struggle, especially older cats, long-haired cats and indoor cats. Here are a few simple things that can help keep them comfortable:

💧 Put extra bowls of fresh water around the house
Sometimes they’ll drink more if they “discover” water in random places. Cat logic.

🧊 Add ice cubes to water bowls
A simple way to keep water cooler for longer.

🌬️ Keep curtains closed during the hottest part of the day
Your house turns into a furry little greenhouse otherwise.

🪵 Cool mats, tiles and shaded spots are their best friend
Don’t be offended if they ignore the expensive cat bed and sleep in the bathroom instead.

🍽️ Wet food can help with hydration
Especially if your cat isn’t a big drinker.

🚫 Never leave cats in conservatories or very hot rooms
Even if there’s shade, temperatures can climb quickly.

🐈 Watch for signs they may be struggling:
• Panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy
• Vomiting
• Breathing quickly

If you’re worried, contact your vet.

And finally... if your cat suddenly disappears during the heatwave, don’t panic. They’ve probably melted into a shady hedge somewhere and will reappear at dinner time demanding snacks like nothing happened 😹☀️

🐾 Hello (again!) from Becky’s Cat Sitting 🐾

I’ve had quite a few new followers recently, so I thought it was about time I reintroduced myself 👋

I’m Becky… mum of 3, travel agent by day ✈️ and a slightly obsessed cat lady the rest of the time 🐱

No visits booked in this week, so I thought I’d share a little high and low of cat ownership from this weekend… 🐾
The high:
We had someone visit the house for the first time and they said they had no idea we had 5 cats because they couldn’t smell them at all 🙌 Honestly, best compliment ever… all that money spent on cleaning products finally paying off 😂
The low:
One of the cats decided my bag was a better option than the litter tray… because of course they did 🙈
