I just wanted to put a little note on here about the heat this week.

I’ll be keeping a really close eye on how warm it gets and how the dogs are coping. The salon does have air con, but even with that, the dogs’ welfare will always come first with me.

If I feel it’s too much for any dog, or that they wouldn’t be comfortable or safe during their groom, I may need to reschedule some appointments.

I completely understand that appointments are planned around busy lives, and I never take moving them lightly, but I know you’ll understand that I will always choose what is right for the dog in front of me.

If your dog is booked in this week, please try not to walk them much before their appointment, especially if it’s warm. Keeping them cool, calm and rested before they come in really does make a difference.

Thank you, as always, for trusting me with your dogs. I care about them so much, and their comfort and wellbeing will always be at the heart of what I do. 💗

Just love grooming this boy. He comes every 5 weeks to see me and I'll admit, he does act like a nervous boy when he first comes in, but as soon as his mum leaves, he jumps up and gives me a big cuddle and then all is well ❤️❤️

I completely understand that price is something people look at when choosing a groomer.

But I also think it’s important to say that a groom is about far more than the cost of an appointment.

You’re not just paying for time. You’re paying for knowledge, safe handling, experience, judgement and someone who knows how to work with the dog in front of them properly.

That matters because grooming affects far more than just the finished look. It affects a dog’s comfort, their confidence, their coat condition, and how they feel about the whole experience.

For me, that is why quality and standards matter so much.

Because when a dog is groomed with care, patience and experience behind it, it shows. Not just in how they look, but in how they feel too.

When a dog comes in for a groom, I’m not only thinking about what style they’re having or how much coat is coming off.

I’m looking at skin condition, ears, nails, matting, thickness of coat, any little lumps or bumps, and also how they’re feeling in themselves throughout the appointment.

I’ve always believed that being a good groomer is about more than the finish at the end. It’s about paying attention. Dogs can’t tell us in words when something feels uncomfortable or not quite right, so we have to look, notice and listen to the little signs they give us

That’s one of the reasons I don’t believe grooming should be rushed. There’s value in taking the time to really see the dog in front of you.

A little post about doodles. Cockapoo, Labradoodle, Cavapoos, Jackapoos, Maltipoos and everything in between.

They're all amazing dog's, but when it comes to coat, they are not all the same.

One doodle may have a soft wavy coat, another may be very curly, and another may have a much straighter coat that sheds far more than people expect.

That’s why I always think it’s so important to understand the individual dog in front of you, rather than assuming all doodles will have the same grooming needs.

Some coats need more brushing.
Some need more regular grooming.
Some may shed very little, while others can shed quite a lot.

Their genetics can play a huge part in the type of coat they have, and that means grooming routines and maintenance can vary from dog to dog.

The more we understand their coat, the better we can care for it properly and keep them comfortable, healthy and looking their best.
