Rewind to the 90s and horse yards in the summer montns were basically:

☀️ creosote fumes everywhere
☀️ riding finally in the jump paddock
☀️ hosing the school down with one sad little hose pipe that kinked every 3 seconds
☀️ riding in shorts and trainers because “it’s too hot for jods”
☀️ purple and black fly fringes that every pony somehow owned 🤣
☀️ frozen orange squash in old ice cream tubs
☀️ and hacking to Tesco for a 99p ice cream feeling like absolute freedom

Meanwhile my yard owner painting fencing in creosote with a fag hanging out their mouth shouting: “SHUT THE GATE” every 14 minutes 🤣🤣🤣

Now fast forward to 2026 and we’re all:
✨ checking UV indexes
✨ discussing hydration strategies
✨ monitoring respiration rates
✨ setting alarms to ride before 9am

But there’s still something nostalgic about those chaotic horsey summers where:
☀️ your legs stuck to the saddle
☀️ your tack room smelt like warm leather and fly spray
☀️ your pony was permanently grass stained
☀️ and life genuinely felt complete with an ice cream, a hose pipe, and a horse that tolerated your nonsense 🤣🐴

Pic from would have been summer 1998 ish and any chance to wear that jacket....obviously a typical uk summer and had finished summering .🤣🤣🤣🤣
