Sometimes life gets in the way of daily brushing and that’s completely understandable but when this happens the kindest thing to do is to shave the coat.
This isn’t the easiest or quickest way as it involves a very sharp blade and needs to be done slowly and carefully.
A few reasons why mats need removing 🤍
🐾 Mats can pull on the skin and make movement painful.
✂️ Brushing out tight mats can hurt and may damage the skin.
🔍 Mats can hide sore or irritated skin. I may not see the problem until the coat is removed.
💧 Mats can trap moisture, dirt, and bacteria. This can lead to skin problems.
❤️ Removing the mats can bring relief and lets me check the skin.
🐶 Your dog’s comfort matters more than coat length.
🤍 The coat will grow back. We can then create a gentle grooming routine to help prevent future matting.
Shaving is not a punishment. You do not need to feel embarrassed or judged. Sometimes, removing the mats is the kindest and safest choice for your dog ###
