What I want customers to know if you're starting fresh with me this season...

Hi everyone! As we head into a new season here in the beautiful South Hams, we want to share a quick update on what Dog and Dash stands for, and what it means to be a part of our community.

We aren’t a high traffic, mud churned public park. Think of Dog and Dash more like a private members' club for dogs where safety, respect for the land, and peace of mind come first.

Here is what starting fresh with us this season looks like.

If our boundaries don't fit your routine, we will be completely honest with you. We protect the integrity of this space so that the dogs who do use it can thrive without risk.

We know exactly who is on the land as we operate a strict accountability system. You wouldn't check into a hotel that doesn't verify bookings, and we don't let anonymous users onto our ground.

This isn't just a business asset, it’s a living piece of Devon. We actively manage the ground to keep it lush, secure, and healthy. We expect our community to respect the soil, wildlife, and boundaries just as much as we do.

This is a creative space for you to build recall, decompress, and bond. We have zero tolerance for left-behind mess or broken rules, we work hard to maintain a clean, beautiful space every single time you open the gate.

We have absolutely loved the endless summer days, and watching our community discover a small piece of calm amongst the busy season.

As the air starts to crisp up, we are so excited to welcome our dogs into a brand-new season!

September mornings are magical. The summer heat is gone, and our dogs get that extra burst of "zoomie" energy in the cool, dewy air. Here are your September essentials for visiting our secure dog field

A towel: The morning grass is wet. Your dog will get damp paws and muddy bellies. Keep a old towel in the boot of your car.

A bright ball or toy: The days are getting shorter. Pick a toy that stands out in the grass so you do not lose it.

Warm post-run flask: Bring a flask of warm, unsalted bone broth for your dog. It hydrates them and warms them up after a chilly early-morning run.

A camera or phone holder: September offers beautiful golden-hour light. Bring a small tripod or phone mount to capture crisp, blur-free action shots of your dog running free.

Layers for you: You will be standing still while your dog runs. Bring a light waterproof jacket or cosy jumper.

August was a beautiful whirlwind in the field! 🌾 We loved welcoming so many lovely visitors to our gorgeous area this month.

With the scorching weather, the local beaches became absolutely packed. Unfortunately, that crowded chaos led to a few tense "doggy arguments" due to a lack of consideration for others within those tight spaces.Our secure field truly became a godsend for our community. It provided a stress-free oasis where your dogs could zoom, sniff, and play with total peace of mind. No crowds, no unwanted interactions, just pure fun!

When the sun was at its fiercest, we adapted quickly to keep everyone comfortable. Our elevated spot caught the best refreshing breezes. The paddling pool was a massive hit for paws and bellies alike. Our early morning and late evening slots were booked out by clever owners dodging the midday sun. 🐾🌾

We have to admit, seeing the field become completely tinder-dry was a little concerning, especially with all the worrying news of wildfires around the country. A huge thank you to every single one of you for being so careful, vigilant, and respectful of the land during this dry spell. You helped keep our safe haven safe!

The local wildlife drama turned a little grim this month! We witnessed a Sparrowhawk taking out pigeons right over the field. It was a stark reminder of nature in action, but the hawk looks like it has moved on now.

Something has also been intermittently thinning out the local rabbit population. After a chat with our local farmer, the mystery might be solved. A polecat has been spotted close by! Keep your eyes peeled for our sleek new neighbour.

As we say goodbye to August, we sadly said a final goodbye to the wonderful Hamley. We have also been feeling incredibly uplifted by all the happy tails and joyful memories. Now, we are heading into September, it is already bringing those welcome, cooler temperatures.

September can be an absolutely beautiful month to book a slot. The seasonal changes are just starting to paint the landscape, the air is crisp, and the field is ready for more adventures.
