Couldnāt agree more Vicki. I often talk people out of paying for support when itās not required. The dogs are what matter - always š§”
š¾š IF I RECOMMEND SOMETHING, THEREāS A REASON šš¾
My dad spent his career in agricultural sales.
He was very good at it, but not because he could persuade people to buy things they didnāt need.
Quite the opposite.
If a product wasnāt genuinely going to help a farmer, he wouldnāt recommend it. He knew he might have been able to make the sale anyway, but that wasnāt worth losing something far more valuable.
Trust.
I think about that quite a lot with Love Your Paws.
I wonāt put on a class, workshop or event just because I think I can sell places on it. I need to believe thereās a good reason for it to exist and that you and your dog will get something worthwhile from being there.
The same applies when somebody comes to me for help. I need to genuinely believe that I have the knowledge and skills to help you with what youāre asking. And if I donāt, Iād much rather tell you that and point you towards someone who does.
And when I recommend another trainer, behaviourist, professional or service, itās because I genuinely believe they have something that could benefit YOU and YOUR dog.
Could I probably sell more by approaching things differently? Maybe.
But I think Dad had it right.
The sale isnāt worth very much if people stop trusting the person making it.
So if Love Your Paws offers something, recommends something or points you in a particular direction, itās because we genuinely believe it could make a positive difference to you and your dog. š¾š©µ
