Give your dog's nose a hobby!

Got a dog who loves to sniff and search? Come and play The Search & Rescue Game, a fun workshop inspired by real search dogs but made for pet dogs (no mountains, no lost walkers, I promise 😂).

Your dog will learn to follow human scent, search independently, problem-solve, and lead you back to the "misper" when they've found them. You'll learn to read your dog's body language and, hardest of all, when to stop helping and let them get on with it!

No perfect recall, no working dog, no experience needed. Just a dog with a nose and a willingness to have a go. Everything is reward-based and force-free, built on partnership rather than pressure. ❤️

LET’S GIVE YOUR DOG’S NOSE A HOBBY.

Dogs that love to search, hunt, locate and work with us don’t necessarily need a job in the traditional sense, but they definitely benefit from having somewhere to put all that brainpower (and nosepower).

So I’m bringing you something a little different:

🐾 THE SEARCH & RESCUE GAME 🐾

A fun, practical workshop inspired by the skills of search-and-rescue dogs, but designed specifically for pet dogs.

This isn’t operational SAR training. Nobody is expecting you to disappear into the mountains looking for lost walkers! 😂

Instead, we’ll take some of the fascinating skills used by search dogs and turn them into a brilliant game that you can enjoy with your dog.

Your dog will learn to:
🐾 Find human scent using their incredible nose
🐾 Explore air scenting
🐾 Search independently
🐾 Problem-solve and make decisions
🐾 Stay focused on a search task despite distractions.
🐾 Build confidence in new environments
🐾 Indicate their find and lead you back to the “misper”
🐾 Develop persistence when the answer isn’t immediately obvious

And YOU will learn some pretty important skills too.

You’ll learn how to read your dog’s body language, recognise when they’re working scent, understand their searching behaviour and, perhaps hardest of all, learn when to stop helping and let your dog do the job!

You don’t need a perfect dog, a perfect recall, a competition dog or a working dog.

And you definitely don’t need to be a professional handler.

You just need a dog with a nose and a willingness to have a go. ❤️

As a reward-based, force-free trainer, I’ll be helping you build the behaviour through motivation, reinforcement and partnership, not pressure.

It is just so lovely when you can meet your pals once a year and all the dogs just pick up where they left off - a happy bunch of pooches, messing about together with joy and respect, and no drama. It’s such a delight to watch them interact together. ❤️❤️❤️

Ever watched a dog put their nose to the ground and vanish into their own little world? That’s Mantrailing, and it might just be the most fun you and your dog have ever had together.

Mantrailing is scent work with a story. Your dog is given a scent article, something that belongs to a specific person, and their job is to follow that scent trail through all sorts of terrain, ignoring every other smell along the way, until they find that person. It’s part detective work, part treasure hunt, and entirely led by your dog. You’re just along for the ride, learning to read your dog’s body language and trust their nose (which is a few thousand times better at this than you are).

What I love about it is watching dogs who are usually a bit unsure of themselves come alive. Mantrailing builds confidence in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else, because the dog is in charge, making decisions, and getting it right. And for the humans, it’s a brilliant lesson in stepping back and trusting the process instead of trying to control every step.

If you fancy giving it a go, I’m running an Introduction to Mantrailing workshop in Trimsaran on 11th September at 6pm, £50 per spot. This intro session is a must before joining any of my regular Mantrailing sessions so it’s the perfect place to start whether you’re brand new to the sport. (If you’ve done an intro course with another trainer you can skip my intro and join my regular sessions - message me for details)
