one year old, her birthday present was.. a bath with bakewell tart scented dog shampoo, and a couple of dog biscuits. she definitely likes being washed now. Not quite adult, still growing, but at about 10kilos now, time to increase her food.

Picked her up and she yelped, quick check shows the cause was what felt like a couple of round grass seed type things, well and truly stuck in her fur on the inside of a back leg. She wouldnt let me snip the offending bits of fur, so I treated her to a bath instead. Bucket of slightly warm water, dog shampoo, and a sponge, all over, especially those back legs, followed by a couple minutes under the shower. Amazingly she didnt resist any of it, and actually enjoyed it for once, this might be due to the hot weather though. Im not sure if the seed things are gone, but she celebrated by rolling on the lawn. Still growing, I reckon about 9kg atm.

Given up trying to socialise the cat with Moll. While Moll has learned and responded extremely well, the cat is still a selfish stroppy, umm, thing. Tonight, while Moll was lying on a chair, the cat approached, hissed, swiped her claws at Moll, causing Moll to howl in pain. As trained, Moll kept back, but barked for some attention. For once I saw it happen, the cat attacked unprovoked.
Ive kicked the cat out, and am impressed that Moll joined in, following my example. Angry Moll can easily outrun the cat, she was on top of the cat all the way down the garden, till the cat was able to use her climbing ability on the fence. Molls bared teeth and growl are impressive. When the cat was gone, Moll ran to me and held up a paw for a handshake, lol.

stitches are out, wound needs a little more healing, but its clean and shes comfortable, so no need to cover it unless she interferes with it. Now have to catch up on the grooming after two weeks in a coat, and get her back on longer walks gradually. The only matted fur is on her chest, and too thick/close to brush, so ive cut most of the matts off, still a couple shes not really keen on letting me cut, will try those again later. Now Moll can get back to exploring, running, playing, and soon, swimming.
In hindsight, would have been better if Id got her a short cut before the op, never mind, we will sort it.

So heres the surgical coat, it was a bit wet and mucky at the rear end this morning, she didnt manage to hold on all night, so its now in the wash while I keep watch on her, but shes not showing much interest in licking her wound. She is back to her normal self today, lively and hungry, and Ive put her back on her regular food as she is eating and drinking as normal now. The remaining soft/wet vet food can go in the cats bowl ;) Im keeping her on the leash full time so she cant run and jump.

Moll had her surgery today, and is now back home recovering.
Right now shes sleeping in her crate, so no photos of the amusing surgical "onesie" coat thing yet, maybe tomorrow.
Shes gonna be sleepy and quiet for a day or two, with follow up visits to the vet Thurs this week and next, and daily meds for me to mix in her food. Im told I have fed and exercised her well as she is in great shape. Now I have to be careful she doesnt get too playful/active over the next week. Photo later.

Molly now 6 months old, 7.2kg, teething complete, and due for her first season anytime. So she gets neutered on Monday morning. I have asked the vet for a onesie type thing for her recovery, to spare Molly, and us, the pain of a surgical collar.
Apparantly the onesies look "cute", so, photo will be posted.
When her operation wound is healed, if she is still my friend, Ill reward her with some indoor swimming;)

The clouds cleared, and I made good use of the new tripod, now much easier with the long lens staying on the target while I tinker with settings. This about the best I managed tonight, with a 50-500 zoomed all the way in and 800 shutter speed. Im sure I can do better with the same equipment, maybe another try tomorrow night.
