Grief 😞

It’s something that rarely gets spoken about in my profession and it’s got me thinking a bit this past few weeks.

All of my loyal customers are now more like friends to me and sometimes I feel I am a therapist to them just as much as there horses at times.

We can rant and let off steam about the ups and downs of horses and our lives, dreams and ambitions with our four legged friends etc.

I feel that sometimes just a listening ear whilst I’m treating horses can absolutely change someone’s day in such a low key way.

The horses on my books are the same, many have been regulars since I started my business 3 years ago and some were even my case studies whilst I was studying ❤️ I have shared the highs and lows of these amazing horses and I love them all individually….

So where does the grief kick in? Well over the last month I have sadly lost a few of my regular horses either due to old age or injuries etc. and alongside there owners I feel a massive sense of grief for the loss of these horses….

I was beginning to think I was being silly and unprofessional but then I realised that Its perfectly normal to feel sadness over animals that have been in your life and it’s all part of healing ❤️‍🩹

The lovely Harley and Doughnut had there PEMF therapy this morning.

After recently moving yards and settling into a new routine they definitely benefited from there treatment this morning.

Both horses have great releases as we worked though restricted areas.

If anyone would like any information on PEMF therapy for there horses please drop me a message to discuss.

🐴 The Importance of Correct Bit & Bridle Fitting Alongside Equine Massage 🐴

When we think about our horse's comfort and performance, equine massage can be a fantastic tool for relieving muscle tension, improving flexibility, and supporting overall wellbeing. However, lasting results often depend on addressing the root cause of discomfort.

An incorrectly fitted bit or bridle can create pressure points across the poll, TMJ, nose, and mouth. This can lead to tension throughout the neck, shoulders, and back.

A correctly fitted bridle allows your horse to move freely and comfortably, while a suitable and well fitted bit ensures clear communication without causing pain or restriction.

When combined with regular equine massage, proper tack fitting can help:

✅ Reduce muscle tension and soreness
✅ Improve relaxation and willingness to work
✅ Enhance performance and movement
✅ Prevent compensation patterns and recurring discomfort
✅ Support your horse's long-term health and wellbeing

Remember 🙌

The head is a complex network of nerves that control everything from lip to ear.

These nerves are essential for communication, comfort and expression.

They are very sensitive and lie close to the surface of the skin and this should be considered when we fit our horses with bridles and bits.

Pressure on the nerves can cause discomfort, head shaking, tack avoidance and also behavioural problems.

The main sensory nerve is the Trigeminal nerve, this splits into three branches around the eye and forhead, Upper Jaw and Muzzle and in the
Lower Jaw and Chin. The nerve is responsible for sensation across the

⭐️ Face
⭐️ Forehead
⭐️ Cheeks
⭐️ Lips
⭐️ Muzzle

Don’t forget that your horse's comfort is a team effort.

Regular assessments of both tack fit and musculoskeletal health can make a significant difference to how your horse feels, performs, and enjoys their work.

A comfortable horse is a happier horse. 🐎✨
