As the weather heats up, you may be tempted to reach for the clippers to help your dog keep cool. ☀️

But for many double-coated breeds, shaving can actually do more harm than good.

Their coat helps regulate body temperature, provides insulation from both heat and cold, and protects their skin from the sun. Removing it completely can increase the risk of overheating, sunburn, and long-term coat damage.

In many cases, regular professional grooming, de-shedding, and removing matts and excess coat are far more effective ways to help your dog stay comfortable during warmer weather.

Over the course of the package, Sonny has been gradually introduced to all the sights, sounds, and handling involved in grooming, from clippers and dryers to brushing, bathing, and time on the grooming table.

Each session is designed to build confidence at the puppy's own pace, helping them develop positive associations with grooming from an early age.

That's why I always tailor appointments to each dog’s individual needs, including accommodating dogs from the same household together where it helps them feel more comfortable and settled.
