As the weather heats up, you may be tempted to reach for the clippers to help your dog keep cool. βοΈ
But for many double-coated breeds, shaving can actually do more harm than good.
Their coat helps regulate body temperature, provides insulation from both heat and cold, and protects their skin from the sun. Removing it completely can increase the risk of overheating, sunburn, and long-term coat damage.
In many cases, regular professional grooming, de-shedding, and removing matts and excess coat are far more effective ways to help your dog stay comfortable during warmer weather.
If your dog is due a tidy-up now that the weather has warmed up, I'd love to welcome you both to my calm, one-to-one home salon. π
