This IS tongue in cheek but genuinely - for the past 20 years - this analogy has served me SO well when talking to friends and family about “which dog is right” (and usually, which dog isn’t right…so, you’re choosing to buy a tank rather than a Volvo when you’re a family of four who like visiting busy family places and have people around because…).

So, I thought I would chuck out a little infographic you can use when you’re persuading your 96 year old neighbour not to get a Ferrari and your 6 stone, city dwelling 18 year old influencer cousin not to get a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon as her first car. Enjoy x

Nearly sixteen years but it will never feel like enough. 
 
You came into my life when I needed you most — a surprise birthday gift in the shadow of grief, in the year following the loss of my brother. I don’t think anyone could have known then just how important you would become to me, or how much of my life you would quietly help me through. I had lost my best friend, but I gained a new friend in you. 
 
You were there for every phase of growing up and growing older. Through the good days, the difficult ones, the changes, the losses, the fresh starts — somehow you always seemed to know exactly what I needed. Comfort, company, distraction, joy, or just the sound of your pitter pattering paws beside me. 
 
We shared so much life together. Moving me to Uni, joining me on my first solo adventure to Scotland, my first solo camping trip, beach walks, swims, and many hikes. You loved your walkies, the sea air, and ANY opportunity to find food. 
 
I hope you knew how deeply you were loved. I hope we gave you even a fraction of what you gave us. 
 
Thank you for almost sixteen beautiful years. Juno & Freddie will miss you, but not as much as us.

One of the most valuable skills you can teach your dog is learning to listen from a distance. Whether it’s recall, place work, or directional cues, building this kind of communication builds your trust in your dog, earning them off lead FREEDOM!

Your dog shouldn’t need to be glued to you to be connected to you 💛

Start small, stay consistent, and celebrate the wins — even the ones that happen a few steps away.

Happy 7th Birthday to our bestest friend & only child (for now) 🧡 we would be lost without you & our adventures wouldn’t be half as much fun if you weren’t by our side. You bring light, laughter and occasional anxiety but we wouldn’t have you any other way. Love you forever Juno bugs my little red heart dog 🐾

TOWN TRAINING 🐾

Taking your dog into a busy town centre and expecting perfect behaviour without preparation is like dropping someone into a test they haven’t studied for.

Busy environments are full of distractions — people, smells, noises, movement — and if we don’t train in those settings, we can’t expect our dogs to magically cope with them.

Structured training sessions in real-life environments help your dog:
• Learn how to focus around distractions
• Build confidence in busy spaces
• Understand expectations clearly
• Make better choices, even when it’s overwhelming

Train with intention. Set them up to succeed. That’s how real-world behaviour is built 💛

🎾 6 Ways to play with a ball that aren’t fetch!

We all know many dogs LOVE a ball… but constantly throwing it back & forth has its downsides. Repetitive fetch can put strain on joints, encourage obsessive behavior, and build too much arousal without teaching your dog how to regulate it.

The good news? You can still use the ball your dog loves — just in a smarter way. 👇

✨ Instead of mindless throwing, turn the ball into a training tool to teach impulse control, arousal regulation, obedience & to get them using their nose!

Hello! What a week. I am feeling so much better after a little hospital holiday, pumped full of all the good stuff & looking forward to getting back to normality next week. I’ve just had a quick catch up on all the messages that have been sat waiting in the inbox - thank you for your patience! If I’ve missed you, feel free to send me a nudge 🙏🏻 little Bella Boo hasn’t had a great week either. Her tumour has grown and she’s starting to show signs of pain. I still can’t believe she will be 16 this year! Going to cherish the time we have left, my little champ 💕 she still reminds you when it’s dinner time though 😂
