🐾 Responsible Dog Ownership Month🐾

Being a responsible dog owner is about so much more than food, walks and cuddles — although those are all very important too!

It is about understanding your dog’s individual needs, keeping on top of their health and wellbeing, providing training and enrichment, and making sure they receive the regular care they need to stay comfortable.

Grooming plays an important part in that care. Regular appointments can help prevent matting, keep nails at a comfortable length, support healthy skin and coats, and give us the opportunity to notice small changes that may otherwise be missed.

At Love to Paws, every groom is tailored to the dog in front of me. There is no rushing, no conveyor belt and no one-size-fits-all approach — just calm, patient, one-to-one care.

Responsible ownership does not mean being perfect. It means doing your best, learning as you go and always putting your dog’s wellbeing first. 💜🐾

A lovely Wednesday in the salon today. 💜🐾

I started the morning with gorgeous Nellie, who was in for her full groom and spa. As one of my lovely VIPs, she also had her birthday spa included, so there was a little extra TLC and birthday pampering for her today. 🎂💜

Next up was handsome Rafi, another lovely VIP, who was in for his full groom and teeth clean.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of welcoming Wilf back into the salon. He is always such a handsome boy and an absolute pleasure to have in. 💜

And finishing off the day was beautiful Teddy, a newbie to the Love to Paws salon. It was so lovely to meet him and welcome him into the Love to Paws family. 🐾

A really lovely mix of familiar faces and a new one today, and a very nice way to spend a Wednesday. 💜🐾

🎄🐾 **Only three grooms until Christmas…**

I know it may feel far too early to be talking about Christmas, but for many of my regular dogs and cats, there are now only around three grooming appointments left before the festive season arrives.

As Love to Paws is a small, one-woman salon, my diary can fill very quickly — and once those appointments have gone, I simply cannot create any more.

Whether you are booking regular dog grooms, cat grooming appointments, nail trims or teeth-cleaning sessions, please do think ahead and secure the dates you need sooner rather than later.

Pre-booking means one less thing to worry about and helps ensure your pet stays comfortable, cared for and looking their best right through to Christmas. 💜🐾

A lovely Tuesday at Love to Paws 💜🐾

I started the day with gorgeous Izzy, who was back in for her regular pamper, followed by handsome Barley for his turn on the grooming table.

Next up was cute little Lola, looking as adorable as ever after her pamper. 💜

And finishing off the day was beautiful Annie, who popped in for a wash and fluff to get her looking and feeling lovely again.

Four lovely dogs and a very nice way to start September in the salon. 🍂🐾

From their gorgeous golden coats to their big personalities, ginger cats certainly know how to make themselves unforgettable. Whether they’re cheeky, cuddly, confident or a little bit cautious, every ginger cat deserves to be celebrated today.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday 🐾

And just like that, we’re at the end of August.

Marnie and I are planning a gentle day of relaxing, recharging and enjoying a slower pace after a lovely summer month.

Thank you, as always, for all of your support, bookings, messages, recommendations and trust in Love to Paws. It really does mean so much to have such wonderful dogs, cats and owners as part of my little salon.

As we head towards autumn, I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone back, keeping coats comfortable, helping pets stay on track with their grooming routines, and caring for your dogs and cats through the next season.

Enjoy the bank holiday, whatever you’re up to — whether it’s a walk, a sofa day, a family day, a garden potter, or simply a well-earned rest.

A little diary note as we head towards autumn 🐾

I know Christmas still feels a little way off, but the Love to Paws diary is now open and taking bookings up until Christmas.

This is absolutely not a panic post — just a gentle reminder for anyone who likes to be organised and make sure their dog’s grooming appointments are planned ahead.

As Love to Paws is a one-woman salon, appointment spaces are limited, and once they are gone, they are gone. Booking ahead means your dog has their space confirmed, their coat can stay on track, and you are not trying to squeeze everything in at the busiest time of year.

This is especially helpful for dogs on regular grooming schedules, fluffy coats, curly coats, senior dogs, nervous dogs, puppies still building confidence, and anyone who knows they would like their dog fresh and tidy before the festive season.

So if you would like to get your autumn and winter appointments booked in, please do get in touch.

What services does Love to Paws offer? 🐾

Love to Paws is all about calm, gentle grooming and support for dogs and cats, with each appointment tailored to the pet in front of me.

From full grooms and desheds, to nail trims, teeth cleaning, puppy and kitten introductions, cat grooming and confidence-building sessions, every service is designed with comfort, care and wellbeing in mind.

One of the services I’m especially passionate about is my Confidence Package.

This is for dogs who may find grooming difficult — perhaps they have never been groomed before, have had an unsettled experience elsewhere, are a little older and unsure, or simply need more time to build trust around handling, equipment, sounds and the salon environment.

Not every dog is ready to walk in and cope with a full groom straight away, and that’s okay.

The Confidence Package gives us time to go slowly, gently and positively, helping your dog learn that grooming does not have to feel scary or overwhelming.

At Love to Paws, grooming is never one-size-fits-all.

Whether your pet needs a full groom, a gentle introduction, regular coat maintenance, a cat grooming clinic, a nail trim, or a little extra reassurance, the aim is always the same — to help them feel safe, comfortable and cared for 💜

A lovely Friday to finish the week. 💜🐾

I started the day with gorgeous Rory, who was in for his regular pamper, followed by beautiful Poppy — another lovely Cavapoochon. I definitely do have a soft spot for them… although Marnie might have something to say about that! 😂

Then it was handsome Bobbi’s turn for a full groom and teeth clean, before lovely Tootsie and Purdy popped in for their regular nail trims.

Such a nice end to a busy week, and now I’m very much looking forward to the bank holiday weekend. 💜🐾

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈🐾

Some pets leave pawprints so deep on our hearts that time never really removes them.

They may no longer be beside us on the sofa, walking at our feet, greeting us at the door, curling up in their favourite spot, or quietly keeping us company — but they are still part of our story.

Losing a much-loved pet is heartbreaking. They are never “just a dog” or “just a cat.” They are family, companions, comfort, routine, joy, laughter, love, and sometimes the ones who got us through the hardest days.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is a gentle moment to remember them.

The ones we still talk about.
The ones whose photos still make us smile and cry at the same time.
The ones whose names we still say with love.
The ones who changed us forever.

To anyone missing a beloved pet today, I hope you can take a moment to remember the love, the memories, the funny little habits, the adventures, and the quiet everyday moments that meant so much.

They are always remembered.
They are always loved.
And they will always have a place in our hearts 💜
