Benson was out with Clever K9s this week and happened to bump into us. Well... “bump into” might be stretching it — he'd clearly been searching for us! The excitement when he finally found us was priceless. 🐾❤️ I honestly don't know who was happier, Benson or me! 😂

At 2:30pm I was drenched by a heavy rain shower in Cross Roads, Haworth. I was setting off to do a training session at Bingley View Dog Park. I checked the Met office app and it forecast 95 % chance of heavy showers. I called off the session but went to the venue in case anyone turned up. At 3pm the sun was out and it looked great! 🤦🏻‍♂️

On the first group walk of today we bumped into the stunning Albert who was at our puppy class last night!

So he joined the pack for a short while. Went off lead and had a great taster session of our Social Experience & Training scheme. He’s going to come back for more!

The scheme is a perfect complement to a Puppy Class. It can stand alone as a means of training the pups of people who can’t make it to a Puppy Class.

During Covid we developed this way of training pups without the use of classrooms. Many of the pups from that scheme are still walking with us as adults. We have a handbook that gives the training programme in full.

Week 1 Success: Building the Ultimate Foundation at Last Night’s Puppy Class!

Last night was the very first session of our new block of courses, and I could not be
prouder of this new group! We kicked off Week 1 by focusing on two of the most critical and
foundational skills for a puppy's development: human-to-puppy play and eye contact.

Highlights from the session:

•⁠ ⁠First-Class Focus: The puppies did an incredible job offering eye contact and
checking in with their handlers, which is the secret to a reliable dog.

•⁠ ⁠Learning to Play: I loved teaching the owners how to use structured play to
become the most exciting and rewarding thing in the room.

•⁠ ⁠Immediate Bonding: It was beautiful to watch the nerves disappear as the pups
realized that paying attention to their human leads to the best fun.

•⁠ ⁠Incredible Energy: A massive thank you to all the owners for bringing such amazing enthusiasm to our first night on the training floor.

Building value in yourself early on is how we set these pups up for a lifetime of success.

Everyone took a massive first step last night!
