It is with great sadness to share that Butter peacefully passed away this morning 💔

Although we try our very best to care for any hen that is unwell from the farm, sometimes they’re bodies are too broken to continue.

Butter had 10 days free with our 2 other hens in the Cluck Clinic. She felt the sun on her skin, enjoyed watermelon and sunflower hearts, she snuggled up to Peanut and Marmalade in the coop at night and she enjoyed cuddles from people that cared about her.

She had a name and she was free

200 hens, 4 and a quarter volunteers and 24 lovely people giving the ladies a new life.

Thank you to everyone that rehomed with us today, the hens were full of beans which meant a lot of running for us today 😅

Thank you to Jules and Julian for getting up super early and bringing the hens to Ipswich

Everyone that registered for hens but were not included in today’s rehome, we will let you know as soon as possible our next rehoming date - we know there are quite a few of you waiting

We are on our way back to Suffolk with your hens if you are collecting from us today 🧡

The hens will be having a rest and much needed water whilst we assess them before they are collected - please be mindful of extreme heat and ensure your carriers have adequate ventilation - dog crates are excellent 😊

This beautiful boy was found abandoned near Needham Market and has been caught and is safe.

Looks to be fully grown as has spurs, but is a small bantam. If you can offer a home to this lovely lad, please message us and we can put you in touch with the kind person caring for him.

Photos of your set up and a donation to Fresh Start For Hens will be required.

🚚 IT’S REHOMING WEEK 🚚 - please read if you have registered to rehome 🐔

We cannot wait to greet you all when the hens arrive. Thanks to you all, the hens have all been allocated. We will be sending out your collection times this week by email.

A few important things to remember when collecting your girls:

🟣 Keep the day free - although we will give a time slot, sometimes the hens can be early or delayed (due to traffic) we will call you if there are any changes. The hens will also need monitoring on their new home to help them settle.

🟣 Please, please, please bring suitable carriers for your hens that are prepared to transport the hens into. Cardboard boxes need to be sturdy and have air holes. Carriers need something at the bottom (straw, old towel, puppy pads) to ensure they have a comfortable journey home.

If carriers are not prepared before collection, it can cause a delay getting your hens ready to go home.
If your carriers are not suitable for transporting your hens, there is a risk you will not be able to take them home.
