Our classes are available all year round and are progressive so whether you want a small amount of basic training or want your dog to be the best behaved pooch in the park I can help you. Many owners have been coming to my classes for a number of years, because they enjoy socialising with other people and dogs, and dog training is an ever-changing discipline and there is always something new to learn. As a fully qualified and accredited instructor I do a lot of continued professional development to ensure I am the most up to date instructor in the area and can provide you with the best possible training. I work with a number of the countries top dog trainers and behaviourists and am always striving to make sure I provide the best experience for you and your dog. I pride myself on offering current, up to date knowledge by continously attending specialist training seminars and practical sessions. Please don’t give up on your dog. ❤️🐾

Yesterday, I saw a discussion about Cavalier King Charles Spaniels being “untrainable”, with owners genuinely believing there was no help available. Some were even considering giving up on their dogs.

It broke my heart.

There is no such thing as a dog that cannot learn. There are dogs who need a different approach, more time, better understanding and the right support.

🧠 Here’s something we often forget: dogs have brains that learn, adapt and form associations, just like ours. Their emotions, experiences, stress levels and environment all influence how they learn and behave. When a dog struggles, we need to understand why, not simply try to stop the behaviour.

Think about school. We don’t expect children to learn everything they need to navigate life in a few weeks. It takes years of teaching, repetition, practice, mistakes and support. Even as adults, we’re still learning!

So why do we expect our dogs to master the skills needed to live in our complicated human world in a handful of training sessions?

Some dogs need more time. Some need a different approach. Some need specialist behavioural support. And sometimes, we need to change our expectations while we help them progress.

But please, don’t mistake struggling for being incapable.

If you’re finding life with your dog difficult, please seek help from a genuinely qualified, experienced trainer or behaviourist who understands learning, emotions and welfare. If the first person can’t help, seek a second opinion.

After 16 years in the dog training industry and more than 25 years in the animal sector, I’ve seen what the right support can achieve.

Your dog doesn’t know they’ve been labelled difficult, stubborn or impossible. They’re simply trying to navigate their world, and they need you in their corner.

❤️ Don’t give up on your dog. Give them time. Give them understanding. Give them the right support.

Sometimes, the difference between a dog being labelled impossible and a dog finally thriving is finding someone who understands them.

🚨🐾 CRIME SOLVED AT MILLIE’S MEADOW!

After an extensive forensic investigation, we have our culprit… IT WAS A DOG! 😂

Evidence collected, holes identified, and the man with the wheelbarrow has been deployed! Not all heroes wear capes… some come armed with a barrow and a shovel! 🦸‍♂️🛠️

But jokes aside, our winter maintenance programme is officially underway! 🍂🌳

Millie’s Meadow isn’t just a dog training ground. It’s a space we continually invest in to ensure you and your dogs have the very best training experience, season after season.

Our winter to-do list includes:

🐾 Filling holes and reseeding
🔨 Repairing woodwork and strengthening fences
🌿 Strimming and maintaining our car park and tracks
☀️ Creating an undercover training area for hot days
🦔 Improving wildlife habitats and checking bird and bee boxes
🌳 Staking trees and planting new saplings
🪵 Chopping wood and tackling all those essential jobs behind the scenes!

Running a dog training school is about so much more than putting out cones and teaching classes. It’s about continually improving our facilities, caring for our environment and creating a space where dogs and their humans can thrive.

So, while the dogs learn, we’ll be filling holes, fixing fences and investigating the next canine crime scene! 😂🐶

🐾 Life off lead starts with the skills that keep dogs safe! 🐾

Today we kicked off our latest Life Off Lead course, and before we even think about unclipping those leads, we started working on some fundamental skills every dog needs to develop. 💚

Because being off lead isn’t simply about having a good recall. It’s about teaching dogs to make good decisions when the world around them becomes exciting!

🐿️ Movement is incredibly motivating for dogs. Whether it’s wildlife, running dogs, people, bikes or a ball, movement can trigger powerful chasing instincts and excitement.

So today, we explored how to use movement in a controlled training environment to engage those same brain systems and teach our dogs a different response.

Instead of “CHASE NOW, ASK QUESTIONS LATER!” 😂 we want to build the ability to:

🐾 Pause and think.
🐾 Check in with their person.
🐾 Resist impulsive reactions.
🐾 Make good choices around distractions.
🐾 Learn that staying connected to us can be just as rewarding as chasing the exciting thing!

This is where the real work begins. We’re not simply teaching dogs to obey commands; we’re helping them develop the skills to manage excitement, think through distractions and make safer choices in the real world.

Life off lead is about so much more than recall. It’s about building a dog who has the skills, confidence and connection to enjoy freedom safely. ❤️

And that’s exactly what we’re working towards!

🐾 New faces, familiar faces & lots of brilliant learning! 🐾

What a fantastic week welcoming so many new puppies to Best Behaviour Dog Training! ❤️ And a huge thank you to our existing clients who continue to show up, put in the work and keep building on everything they’ve already learned.

Every single dog did so well at their own level! 👏 From our newest little learners taking their first steps to our more experienced dogs developing their skills, it was wonderful to see everyone progressing.

One thing we always focus on is learning to work around distractions, whatever stage of training your dog is at. Because let’s face it, real life doesn’t happen in a quiet training bubble! 🐶

Building skills around other dogs, people, movement and excitement helps our dogs learn to think, focus and make good choices, even when the world around them gets a little more interesting.

And why do dogs LOVE training? ❤️

Because when it’s done well, training is so much more than asking for a sit or a down. It gives dogs opportunities to use their brains, solve problems, explore, earn rewards, build confidence and enjoy spending time with their favourite people.

What’s in it for us? Happier dogs, better communication, more freedom, safer adventures and a stronger bond with the dogs we share our lives with.

That’s what makes training so worthwhile. It’s not just about teaching behaviours; it’s about helping dogs navigate our busy human world while enjoying life alongside us.

🐾 Why do so many dog owners come to us, and keep coming back?

Because we don't believe dog training should end when puppy class finishes.
When we created Best Behaviour Dog Training, we wanted to do things differently.
We looked at the science of learning, behaviour, emotions and development and questioned the old-fashioned idea that training is simply about teaching a few behaviours, ticking them off a list and sending owners on their way.

Because real life doesn't work like that!
🧠 Puppies grow into teenagers.
🐕 Recall suddenly becomes less reliable.
🦮 Walks become more challenging.
🤯 New behaviours and difficulties emerge.
❤️ And sometimes, despite all your hard work, you need a little extra support.

That's why we built a progressive training journey, not just a puppy class.
